This month during Women's History Month when we celebrate women’s contributions, we want to personalize the occasion by highlighting some of the exceptional women at Thriving Hearts Crisis Center (THCC).

We shine 🔦the spotlight ✨on the woman leading the THCC charge, Jana Evans, THCC CEO.

💬"I stepped into this role because I believe every survivor deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to rebuild their life. Supporting people through some of their hardest moments requires compassion, strong community roots, and systems that truly show up for them. I’m honored to lead Thriving Hearts Crisis Center in strengthening those roots and expanding the support survivors deserve. Leading Thriving Hearts Crisis Center allows me to help ensure survivors are seen, heard, and supported as they rebuild their lives." ~Jana Evans

Jana Evans has more than 13 years of nonprofit and public service leadership experience, with a career rooted in serving diverse and underserved populations across South Texas and at the national level. Some of Jana’s accolades include being recognized by the Association of Defense Communities for demonstrated leadership and meaningful impact in supporting military members, veterans, and defense-connected communities. She was awarded the Defense Communities Champion Award.

💜Jana has a servant mentality and embodies the reason we celebrate women this month! Thank you Jana for the impact you have had and continue to have in our society.

Jana Evans, THCC CEO, shared her sentiments on her participation in the Annual Executive Directors Conference.

"Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Directing the Work Conference co-hosted by the Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV) and Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA)

Surrounded by passionate leaders across Texas, one thing was clear:
Building safer communities requires continuous learning, honest conversations, and the courage to grow.

I’m grateful for the ideas, partnerships, and renewed energy I’m bringing back to Thriving Hearts Crisis Center as we continue working to support survivors and create pathways toward safety and stability."

“As we reflect on International Women’s Day, we also remember the women in Texas whose lives were lost to intimate partner violence. The Honoring Texas Victims Report documents these tragedies and reminds us that behind every number is a life, a family, and a community forever changed.” ~ TCFV

💜 If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please know that you are not alone! AND… YOU are WORTHY! There is NO excuse for abuse; it is NOT your fault!

Help is available!

On International Women’s Day, we recognize the strength, leadership, and resilience of women everywhere. We honor the advocates, survivors, leaders, and changemakers whose work continues to strengthen communities and support those impacted by violence.

Across Texas and beyond, women lead with courage, compassion, and determination; helping shape a future where everyone can live free from violence. Their voices, leadership, and commitment continue to move this work forward.

✨Today is Employee Appreciation Day... so while we celebrate our wonderful employees daily, today we want to give a little extra love to all Thriving Hearts Crisis Center and The Cranny employees for their dedication, passion, hard work and contributions to our heartfelt mission. 🫶🏼💜

You are our backbone! Thank you for what you do and all that you are! You each are appreciated more than you know. You are greatly valued and respected, as well.

"Supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault is not easy work. It requires compassion, patience, strength, and a deep commitment to helping others during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. Every hotline call answered, every survivor supported, every safe night of shelter, every counseling session, every resource shared, and every moment of advocacy makes a real difference. And every item sold at The Cranny helps support that mission as well. I am grateful for each of you and the work you do every day!" ~ Jana Evans, CEO

Happy Employee Appreciation Day! 🫶🏼🩵

“The movement to believe survivors did not start yesterday. It was built by women who refused to stay silent.”

Join us in celebrating Women's History Month throughout the month of March.

Let's amplify our voices and platforms to honor women like Tarana Burke who paved the way in advocacy & justice.

Tarana Burke is an American activist from New York City who started the MeToo movement. In 2006, Burke began Me Too as a youth program for junior and high school students with the goal of addressing the rampant sexual violence in the community. Over a decade later, in 2017, became a viral hashtag when Alyssa Milano encouraged women to tweet the words if they had experienced abuse and harassment. The phrase and hashtag quickly developed into a broad-based, and eventually international viral movement.

Time named Burke, among a group of other prominent activists dubbed "the silence breakers", as the Time Person of the Year for 2017.

This month join our efforts in honoring and celebrating women’s contributions in American history.

February may almost be gone but our teen dating violence conversations should never end!

We must continue to educate and raise awareness about the prevalence of teen dating violence.

Dating violence is more common than people think, especially among teens & young adults. Sadly, much is not recognized or reported.

Everyone deserves a healthy relationship!

Boundaries help love grow!

• Real love + boundaries = respect.
• Real love = respect. Safe. Equal. Honest.
• Healthy love is built on respect, trust, and care.
• Love is not about pain, pressure or control.

We can't emphasize enough how important community partnerships are towards fueling our mission.

It is vital for like-minded organizations serving rural communities to collaborate and share available services and resources.

Thriving Hearts Crisis Center was happy to participate in this month's Karnes County Interagency meeting held in Karnes City.

Karnes County is one of the four counties we humbly serve.

Thank you community partners for your partnership!
