The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where, who knows where
But I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.
So on we go
HIs welfare is my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there...
--"He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" as recorded by The Hollies in 1969
Still a good message today, though.

Great things are happening at EMTS!
1) We have revised our orientation process, and with that, employees are now receiving a more consistent orientation.
2) Becca has been shopping--I never know what will show up at my door...but it is sure to be something we need to improve our patient care or office processes.
3) We are coming together as a team again... employees are working together to solve problems and get the job done!
4) We are back on the Con Ed wagon...trying to do something monthly in conjunction with Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co.
Go team, and keep up the great work. You are awesome!

EMTS would like to recognize another employee Caroline Calkins- Holmberg. Caroline has been an EMT and EMSVO for 6yrs, with 2.5 yrs of service at EMTS. Carol is from Barbours PA and is a member of :Plunketts Creek Volunteer Fire Co as well. She has always been a caregiver to humans and animals . Early in life she wanted to be a vet. In her free time she rides her horses and plays with her dog. She does not have a favorite pet; she loves all of them. Her favorite place to eat is Disalvos. If she could fly away it would be to Hawaii, for some sunshine. Her super power would be to read minds and help people find happiness. A pet peeve of hers is laziness. Caroline is a woman of many talents: she has a degree in Advertising Layout and Clothing Construction, a degree in Spirits, and she is also a licensed massage therapist. Thanks for all you do, Caroline!

EMTS held its annual appreciation banquet last night at Orlando’s. After a tasty meal, length of service certificates were awarded to employees with 10, 3 and 2 years‘ service. Tyler McCarthy was named wacker of the year, and serenaded with wails, yelps, hi lo and air horns (ok, not the real thing inside the restaurant, just imitations) and Ivy’s mad lib was a big hit, featuring various employees as well as victims with a cabbage cutter in the belly button and a mousetrap in the eyeball, among others. A big thanks to our team for all they do, and a big thanks to Becca for pulling the banquet together.

Happy belated New Years from EMTS! Lots happened last year in addition to the 2464 calls we ran. Many opportunities presented themselves last year, and after much research and consideration, we did not renew our contract at White Deer Township, instead choosing to pursue other avenues. Paula ran our first call at Lycoming County Station 13 on December 31 while moving furniture, though technically that daytime staffing agreement did not begin til January 2, 2026. We also added a SNF contract, and we are still exploring more opportunities to come!
EMTS welcomed many new staff in 2025:
EMTs Nikki Hardy, Tyler McCarthy, Abby Houseknecht, and Jonah Kiessling;
EMR / EMSVOs Zach Coleman, Craig Eberlin, Keith Eberlin, Dan Edmiston, Mike Moreland;
Paratransit drivers Ivy Kilcoyne, Brian Kustanbauter, Dave Young;
Dispatcher Ann Denton; and
QA Assistant Rebecca Sinsabaugh.
Many of our employees had accomplishments of their own:
Ruben Adams took his EMT course.
Brian Ammon, Craig Eberlin, Keith Eberlin and Mike Moreland all completed their EMR.
Tyler obtained his EMSVO.
Jonah completed EVOC.
Abby moved up to full time.
Five employees attended the Seven Mountains EMS conference, and Paula attended ABC360 and brought back lots of useful updates for the billing side.
We parted ways with Cornerstone Billing and are now happily working with AIM.
We participated in Trunk or Treat and National Night Out in Muncy Township, did a standby at the Montgomery Fireworks and another at Camp Crystal Lake.
Caroline got married and Sam earned her realtor's license...
We lost some employees as well, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
In summary, stay tuned for our next exciting broadcast, as 2026 promises to be another busy and exciting year!

Last week was quite a week! From freeze dried shoes to a broken radiator hose, to 19-5 "almost" being delivered to the wrong place by rollback. Thanks to Becca, Brian, Keith, Abby, Tyler, John Falco, Bailey's Towing, and the kind soul at Station 23 who told Bailey's where the ambulance actually belonged, as well as anyone else I may have missed. I appreciate you all.

Ambulance 47 had its first official response today!

A big thanks to Keith Eberlin and Jonah Kiessling, who deep cleaned at Montgomery today; Ivy Kilcoyne, who rolled up her sleeves and undertook the supply closet at pennsdale, and both Becca’s who churned out the charts while Abby Houseknecht, Brian Ammon, and Brian Kustenbauter ran the calls on the transport side.
If you see Brad Conroy and Abby Houseknecht out and about tonight, give them a thumbs up too!

A big shout out to Caroline Calkins, Jonah Kiessling, and Brian Ammon, who showed up to serve our patients today! Go team!
