๐ธ Employee Spotlight & Breast Cancer Awareness Month ๐ธ
This month, we are honored to spotlight one of our incredible team members, Tanya, our dedicated Medical Social Worker, and a true survivor, encourager, and inspiration to us all. ๐
Tanya shared her powerful story in her own words:
โI was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 26, 2016. I had surgery with lumpectomy and removal of lymph nodes on December 19, 2016. I began chemotherapy at Kirkland Cancer Center on January 2, 2017, completing 8 weeks on February 27, 2017. I then began radiation at the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center on March 28, 2017, completing 38 treatments on May 19, 2017.
My support system, praying family and friends, and the grace of Jesus Christ allowed me to hold onto hope.
My words to others going through this journey are: get your mammograms and keep your eyes on Him.
To the loved ones and friends of those on this journey, remember to take care of the caregivers. They too are on a journey. They are scared and hurting, too.
My journey taught me to โBe still and know that He is God.โ Iโve always been active, some might say hyper, but I learned that sometimes we have to just be still and listen.
Iโm blessed to remain cancer-free thus far, though I will deal with after-treatment health issues probably for the rest of my life. Keep loving on those walking this path, they are fighting daily battles. It is a lifetime journey. I look at each day differently than I did before November 26, 2016 and thank God for all of the little moments.โ
๐ Tanya, your strength, faith, and compassion shine through everything you do. We are so proud to have you on our team and grateful for the hope and encouragement you bring to our patients and staff every day.
This October, we join Tanya in reminding everyone: get your mammogram, support the fighters, and cherish the little moments.
