Distress Tolerance

The STOP Skill is based in the therapeutic modality of DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). When you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed, this is a short exercise you can complete at any time or place. The goal of this exercise is to divert from emotionally dysregulating when experiencing intense feelings. This skill can take a while to use consistently, and may not work for everyone.

💚The prevalence of mental health concerns among adults in the U.S. has not changed significantly from 2021 to 2024 with 23.4% of adults reporting experience with any mental illness.

✨BUT✨

💚 Mental health among youth in the U.S. improved significantly from 2023 to 2024 with the percentage of youth (ages 12-17) reporting a 2.7% decrease in a major depressive episode and a 2.2% decrease in serious thoughts of su***de.

We still have a long way to go with fighting mental health stigma, but we are making progress!
