Difficulty recalling people and faces
This can be frustrating and confusing for dementia patients, especially those who receive services at home from relatively new caregivers and those who reside in senior living facilities, such as assisted living communities, memory care units or nursing homes.
IDEAS to help:
staff photo board might help Mum. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy—just a poster of photos, first names and titles/relations that residents and their families can refer to. It serves as a sort of visual suggestion tool for guiding dementia patients through the cognitive processes of facial recognition and name recall.
One of my clients daughter made a photo book of children, their better halves and all grandkids as well. They put them in family groups to follow the family tree. This is a soothing and good activity when times get rough.

Having a tough time with ordinary tasks
Try to keep a routine, such as bathing, dressing, and eating at the same time each day. When dressing or bathing, allow the person to do as much as possible.
Buy loose-fitting, comfortable, easy-to-use clothing, such as clothes with elastic waistbands, fabric fasteners, or large zipper pulls instead of shoelaces, buttons, or buckles.
Use a sturdy shower chair to support a person who is unsteady and to prevent falls. You can buy shower chairs at drug stores and medical supply stores.
Be gentle and respectful. Tell the person what you are going to do, step by step while you help them bathe or get dressed.
Serve meals in a consistent, familiar place and give the person enough time to eat.

Dementia
As the disease progresses, the damage to a person's brain becomes more extensive and they gradually become weaker and frailer over time. As a result, a person with dementia may find it quite exhausting to do relatively simple tasks like communicating, eating or trying to understand what is going on around them.
