Urgent! Prior Authorizations for Medication. Many companies have made changes to their insurance plans and pharmacy benefits resulting in NEW prior authorization requirements for some medications. Please be advised, we handle our prior authorization requests within 48 business hours. Once the prior authorization is sent to your pharmacy benefits administrator, we have NO CONTROL over the time it takes them to approve or deny the authorization. We also cannot change a prescription or send in partial prescriptions while we are waiting on an authorization. Controlled substances are monitored on a Federal level through the DEA. To expedite the process for approval of a prior authorizaton, once we have sent it to your pharmacy benefits administrator, you will need to contact your pharmacy benefits administrator directly. You may find these contact numbers on your pharmacy benefits card or by contacting your human resource department. We know how frustrating this is, however, we can only do what is legally allowed.
