I call this the placenta roll! It’s one of my favorite poses to do for a family to remind them of the miracle of birth.

Functions of the placenta include:

🌿Provides baby with oxygen and nutrients.
🌿Removes harmful waste and carbon dioxide from your baby.
🌿Produces hormones that help your baby grow.
🌿Passes immunity from you to your baby.
🌿Helps protect your baby.

What a year 2022 was and this highlight is just a drop in the bucket of what 2022 held for us.

I spent countless hours this year working with families prenatally, laboring with them, celebrating their births, documenting their experiences, editing their images and films and supporting them in postpartum. I also hugged and encouraged mothers whose plans changed, sent parents to bed who were sleep deprived and barely holding on while I worked to soothe their little ones and I’ve had the honor of holding the hands of parents and their loved ones on beautiful days that unfortunately came paired with immeasurable heartbreak.

There will be lots of changes coming to Blue Ridge Birth this year and I’m really looking forward to what to come! I scaled down this year to focus more on my life and education as a student midwife with and that is still my goal this year but I will definitely still be taking clients regardless of the exciting changes coming this year! I love this work and plan to continue it until I move into midwifery which will still be a while!

I can not begin to explain what it means to me when you entrust me with your most precious and vulnerable moments! I do not take it lightly that I get to serve families in so many different ways. If you think I’ve had an impact on your life just call me up and I’m happy to remind you of all the ways you’ve changed mine and blessed me by allowing me to witness your bravery, resolve, deep love and strength. ❤️

Also it means the absolute world to me when you recommend me to a friend and every time I am recommended on Facebook or tagged on instagram. Every post that is shared or review posted to a page goes so far and I wouldn’t be able to do this work without y’all! I see you and I love you for it! Each and every one of you!

A comprehensive lactation and infant feeding course taught by Nicole M. Vazquez Miralla, MBA, IBCLC.

Course will cover content such as:

-Benefits of breastfeeding
-Anatomy and physiology of lactation
-Prenatal preparation and colostrum harvesting
-The impact of birthing practices on feeding
-Plan B when things don't go as planned
-Latching and positioning
-Common early week challenges
-Long-Term success
-A class workbook will be provided to each couple
-And more!

*We recommend taking this class between 32-36 weeks if possible.

*Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Lunch break (on your own) from 12-1pm.

Every pregnancy, birth and postpartum I’m honored to be involved in retains an element of magic for me. But I’d be lying if I said that some journeys didn’t just stick to me differently. That some families and their babies don’t have a deeper impact on me.

These sweet parents holding this baby girl in this spot. You have no idea how full circle this moment is and how hard the road was to get here. 11 months to the day they held their first daughter Emmy just like this and in this same spot in their room. The expressions on their face were different as they were grieving the numbered hours they would be able to hold her until a heavenly reunion. Shortly after this picture I watched these incredible parents buckle Emmy’s baby sister, Addy into her car seat to take her home. And I can’t put into words what that feels like to witness!

Morgan and Corey I am inspired by your faith, your strength and your love for your daughters. Addy is absolutely perfect and I look forward to getting to know her more and watching the two of you experience parenting in new ways! Thank you for inviting me into these sacred chapters in your life! Emmy had and continues to have an impact on so many people I am just one of those!

This sleepy squish is a little bigger than most I get to see! But it was so fun interacting with a baby that is coming into her personality! Mom wanted a breastfeeding session but little miss wanted to hang with her new best friend lol (it’s me- I’m the new best friend 😜)
