🚨 Measles Update – Important Message from Your Pediatrician 🚨

You may have seen recent news about measles cases in South Carolina, including the Upstate. As a pediatrician, I want to be clear and transparent with our families.

Measles is one of the most contagious viruses we see in pediatrics. During outbreaks like this, protecting our most vulnerable patients matters more than ever — especially newborns, immunocompromised children, and those who cannot yet be fully protected.

At Blue Ridge Pediatrics, we require vaccinations because they help create a safer care environment for every child who walks through our doors. This policy is rooted in evidence-based medicine and prevention — and in our responsibility to protect all patients, not just some.

💉 Vaccines work.
🤍 Prevention protects our community.

If you have questions about measles, MMR vaccination, or how we’re keeping our office safe, please reach out. We’re here for you.

📢 Important Message from Blue Ridge Pediatrics LLC — Measles Update

Hi everyone — Dr. Gully here. You may have seen the news — measles is spreading in our community, especially in the Upstate of South Carolina. As of this week, **South Carolina has reported about 126 confirmed measles cases, nearly all linked to the Upstate outbreak, and hundreds of people are currently in quarantine due to exposure. Of those infected locally, the vast majority are unvaccinated.

📍 Why this matters:
➡️ Measles is one of the most contagious viruses we see — if you’re not protected, you can catch it just by being in the same room, even hours after someone with measles was there.
Powers Health

➡️ Nationally, the U.S. has seen nearly 1,912 confirmed measles cases this year, the worst outbreak in decades.
CDC

At Blue Ridge Pediatrics, our vaccination-required policy is intentional: it helps create the safest healthcare environment possible for the kids who need it most — newborns, medically fragile children, and those who haven’t developed immunity yet.

💉 Vaccines work. MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination is about 97% effective when the full series is given, and it’s our best tool to keep measles from spreading.
Powers Health

We know these numbers can be concerning, and we’re here to support you with clear, evidence-based information. If you have any questions about measles, vaccination, or protecting your child, please reach out or talk with us after watching. ❤️

Thank you for trusting us with your children’s health and safety.
