Hello all! Very exciting news, I have been approved to open my new studio, The Studio at The Grange! This has been a project years in the making, and is nearing completion. I don't yet have an opening date, but my hope is sometime in December. You'll be hearing more about it as I get closer to opening, but in the meantime, take a look at the pics and get excited to work in this new space!

Saw this article a couple times on my news feed today, so I'm sharing it here. It's kind of short on recommendations, so I'll post a couple more suggestions here:

If you're new to sitting on anything besides a regular chair, your body may have adapted to that 'chair shape', so you may have to go to the floor in stages.

The first stage would be to sit in different heights of chairs, something lower, and then just keep going lower. Maybe a stool or a pouf, then a stack of blankets or cushions, removing one or two as your body adapts to this lower position. Eventually floor sitting will become normal and comfortable for you again.

Human tissue is dynamic, and can and will change with the appropriate inputs; loading your muscles progressively. This is true for all of your skeletal muscles all the way up to your very last breath. So if you have an interest, or desire, in changing your current abilities, but aren't sure where to start, hit me up, ask me anything.......

The Okinawan practice of sitting on the floor is linked to many health benefits and longer life expectancy. Centenarians in Okinawa sit and get up from the floor dozens or hundreds of times per day.

This is a wonderful article on parenting and the importance of the caring father.

This is a wonderful article on parenting and the importance of the caring father.

Nurturing fatherhood was embedded in male biology long ago and likely laid evolutionary foundations for other fathering roles.

What do these things have in common? They’re tools. My excellent minimal hiking shoes, Joe Nimble Wandertoes, and my YogaTuneup balls. The boots allow me to keep my feet dry and comfy, while allowing good ground feel. The balls allow me too massage some of my over used and over tired muscles. I’m grateful. I’m also grateful that at 57 I feel better and stronger than I did a decade ago. I have a lot of people who’ve guided me to the skills and knowledge that have let me learn to heal my imbalances, overuses, speak to the underused parts of my body and coax them back to the party. In the process, which is by no means over, I’ve learned how to save my knees by building a better butt, how to drop my ribs and ramp my head, and likely avoided a hip replacement and am building bone density instead of getting diagnosed with osteoporosis. So thanks always to first and foremost, as well as for your important contributions to my health and well being, and learning how to use these, and many other tools to help myself and others. ❤️View whole post on Instagram!

Great article on Daniel Lieberman's findings and I highly recommend his book, "The story of the human body", and I can't wait to read this new one, "Exercised". https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/01/21/959140732/just-move-scientist-author-debunks-myths-about-exercise-and-sleep?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&fbclid=IwAR3xIh5KvbwoqSlxV41sbUpd-wUs9GiVwByQMjDTh_XTXE6EdHZSrWwCyfE

Paleoanthropologist Daniel Lieberman says the concept of "getting exercise" is relatively new. His new book, Exercised, examines why we run, lift and walk for a workout when our ancestors didn't.

There's some really good, and actionable, advice here about setting goals and becoming more of who you want to be.

Benjamin Hardy, PhD, explains why identity is far more important than personality, how it is actually the driver of personality, and how to frame your own future self, so you can stop living your life based on who you’ve been.
