Winter is here which means neck and shoulder pain is too. We tend to be more rigid as our bodies adjust to the temperature changes causing us to shrug our shoulders more, curl forward to maintain heat and we forget to stretch! Opening up our chest muscles allows our posterior (on the backside) muscles to relax. Try this simple doorways stretch to relieve some tension.
Hold each position 30 seconds, 1-2 reps. Each position stretches different fibers: upper, middle and lower pectoral muscles.
Remember: stretching should always be gentle and eased into different positions. Never rush and always listen to your body.
