Jodi M. Pelan

Jodi Marie (Policky) Pelan was born on August 9, 1962, in Seward, Nebraska to Donald and Kathy (Anderly) Policky and passed away, surrounded by her family, on March 22, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 13 days.

Jodi was raised on a small acreage near Bee, Nebraska. She attended East Butler High School and graduated with the Class of 1980. On April 26, 1980, Jodi was united in marriage to Arthur L. Pelan. Together, they built a loving home and were blessed with two sons, Joshua and Jeremy, who became the center of her world. Jodi was a devoted and loving mother, cherishing the years she spent raising her boys at home during their early childhood. Her home was always a welcoming place, with the door open to her boys’ friends. She treated them like her own, creating a space filled with warmth and laughter. As they grew and began school, she brought her warm personality and strong work ethic to her roles as a waitress at CB Bar, Brainard Café, C-K Katering, and later Husker Bar II, where she formed many lasting friendships with customers and coworkers.

Jodi truly enjoyed socializing with friends, family and her customers. She had a love for music and dancing, and found special happiness in Sunday drives with Arthur, where the two would listen to their favorite songs and enjoy each other’s company. Jodi also loved spending time at the lake, where she could relax, soak in the sunshine and enjoy time with those she loved most. Above all, Jodi’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She was her sons’ biggest supporter and found immense happiness in cheering on her sons and granddaughters in their many activities throughout the years. Her love, encouragement and unwavering support will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her. Jodi was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and their PCCW.

Jodi is preceded in death by her father, Donald Policky; brother, Scott Policky; parents-in-law, Victor E. and Irene Pelan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Victor K. Pelan, Lorna Pelan, Margaret and Tony Valenti, Steven and Chris Pelan.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her husband of 45 years, Arthur Pelan, Brainard; sons and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Elizabeth Pelan, Brainard, Jeremy Pelan, Lincoln; granddaughters, Olivia and Cecilia Pelan, Brainard; mother, Kathy Policky, Seward; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Jeff Krenk, Seward; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

As the first blooms of spring begin to appear, we’re reminded that the beauty we see today was thoughtfully planted long before the season arrived. Each flower is a testament to careful planning, patience, and love.

In much the same way, preplanning your funeral is a meaningful gift to those you cherish. By making decisions in advance, you plant seeds of comfort and clarity—lifting burdens and allowing your family to focus on remembrance, healing, and celebrating a life well lived.

This spring, consider the peace of mind that comes from planning ahead. Just as gardens flourish with preparation, so too can your legacy.
