On January 21, 2026, Schneck Medical Center proudly hosted its seventh annual Evidence‑Based Practice Poster Symposium, an event dedicated to showcasing the innovative, research-driven work of our nurses and interdisciplinary team members. The symposium highlights projects designed to elevate patient care, advance clinical practice, and strengthen outcomes across the organization.
This year’s competition featured an impressive lineup of evidence‑based initiatives, reflecting the passion, creativity, and commitment of Schneck’s healthcare professionals.
First place was awarded to Lyda Ritz from the Endocrinology Office for her impactful project, “Breaking the Barrier on Rapid‑Acting Insulin Administration.”
Second place went to the Pre‑Op Department, represented by Kim Cox, for their project, “Reducing Anxiety in Surgical Pediatric Patients.”
Third place was awarded to the Operating Room, represented by Denise Shoemaker, for the project, “Improved Preceptor Efficacy Resulting from Implementation of OR‑Specific Standardized Preceptor Education.”
Attendees also cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award, which went to the Endoscopy Unit, represented by Ashley Pyle and Michelle McCool, for their innovative project, “Using Carbon Dioxide Insufflation for Colonoscopy.”
Schneck Medical Center celebrates all participants for their dedication to evidence‑based practice and their unwavering pursuit of excellence. These projects exemplify the extraordinary work happening every day within the organization to improve patient care and advance the future of healthcare.
The Allied Health Scholarship is for eligible candidates who are planning to enroll or are currently enrolled in a clinical/technical, including, but not limited to, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, Radiologic Technology, Physician Assistant, and Surgical Technology.
The Amanda M. Dick Honorary Scholarship was established in 2018 by Dr. Andrew Dick to honor his wife, Dr. Amanda Dick, a caring physician, skilled surgeon, loving mother and wife, and resilient breast cancer survivor. This scholarship is for eligible candidates who are pursuing a career in the medical field and are currently accepted into medical school. The scholarship is open to female students pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.

Jennings County has moved to a WATCH (Orange) travel status. Schneck Family Care in North Vernon will open at 1:00 PM today.
Washington County has moved to a WATCH (Orange) travel status. Schneck Family Care in Salem will open at 1:00 PM today.
Jackson, Scott, and Washington counties are under a WATCH (Orange) travel status. All Schneck facilities in these counties—including Provider Clinics and Outpatient Services—are now open, with the exception of Schneck Family Care in Salem, which will open at 1:00 PM today.
Jennings County remains under a WARNING (Red) travel status. Schneck Family Care in North Vernon will remain closed until the Warning (Red) status is lifted.

And, its hip and knee replacement program has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for quality and safety and has been designated a Blue Distinction Center by Blue Cross Blue Shield.
