Today is the last day of Kwanzaa. The seven day observance in our community regarding unity. And, it is a fitting moment to thank you for letting me share my journey, over the last few months, through several posts. Dad's diligence for the community should be a story every black child in King and Queen should know. It should be a tangible example of determination and a beacon of black pride. But, there was so must chaos when I stepped in and up after my father. Chaos that was caused by others and have had long reaching affects into my life. And, that's because we have so much negativity, back biting and misinformation in the black community. We aren't use to anyone inheriting anything much less an operating business. And, that's were the true was lost. It should never have been about me...the funeral home is for you all... I can only do as much as you all give me to work with. You can not say God uses people for different purposes or lessons, then when a situation manifests right in front of you, you don't believe. What God used me for had nothing to do with business or money. It was to show how you go on when the worst thing that could happen to a person actually happens. My parents were true servants of the community. I have ups and downs just like everyone else. But as long as I'm black and breathing, I share the same commitment. As I close this message, I say to you (Gloucester, King and Queen, Mathews, Middlesex and West Point) what Daddy always said to me...love you to pieces⚘️
