Each quarter, St. Francis recognizes an exceptional nurse with the DAISY Award. The DAISY Award is a special honor given to extraordinary nurses for the compassionate contributions they make every day by going above and beyond.

Our 2025 Quarter 3 award honoree is Dawn, a Surgical Services RN. Dawn was nominated for her persistence, compassion, and commitment to safety.

Recently, a patient arrived in the PACU experiencing a shortness of breath. Dawn firmly and respectfully advocated for the patient, even after her concerns were initially dismissed.

It takes real courage to stand up, speak out, and continue to fight for what you know is right even when it's difficult. Dawn demonstrated exactly what nursing is all about: putting patients first, even in the face of challenge.
