Alex, a St. Francis Rehab care team member, recently received the Lifesaving Award from Shakopee Police Department!

In January, Alex noticed a vehicle on fire in the parking lot, rushing in and pulling the occupant to safety, moments before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. Because of her bravery and quick thinking, everyone made it out safely.

Thank you to Shakopee Police Department for recognizing Alex and her commitment to our community. Congratulations Alex, we are proud to have you on the St. Francis team - you are a true hero!

Our Cancer Center volunteers have been a key piece to our care team, providing games or coloring sheets, snacks & refreshments, comfort items, and conversation to patients receiving infusion treatments. Now, they are also able to assist our pharmacy by providing med transport to the Cancer Center!

Anita has been volunteering in the Cancer Center for a year and enjoys being able to spend time with patients.

Recently, St. Francis' Surgery Clinical Program Specialist, Ann, attended the Shakopee Public Schools School Board meeting to discuss the total knee arthroplasty simulation that they did with students in the Health Sciences Academy. Josie, an 11th grader in the class, said the experience deepened her passion and interest in working in orthopedics.

St. Francis is a proud champion of the Health Sciences Academy, giving students an opportunity to be in real-world situations. As Ann stated, "...great experience of exposing these kids to what a knee replacement would be like. The steps are very similar to what we follow in surgical services."

St. Francis Emergency Department staff and leaders, along with Knutson, walked through a "rough-in" of a new ED room. This allowed staff and leaders to give their input on room layout for an optimal experience for staff, patients, and families.
