The holidays are all about enjoying good food and time with family, but they can also be tough on your circulation if you’re sitting for long periods or overindulging.

A few simple habits can help keep your legs feeling their best through the season:
✅ Take a short walk after big meals (It helps boost circulation and aids digestion.)
💧 Stay hydrated (Water keeps your blood flowing smoothly and prevents swelling.)
🧂 Watch the salt (Too much sodium can lead to fluid retention and heavier-feeling legs.)
🪑 Don’t sit too long (Get up every hour to stretch or move around a bit.)

Your veins work hard for you every day, so give them a little love this Thanksgiving.

✈️ Whether you’re flying across the country or taking a short trip, long periods of sitting can slow circulation and increase pressure in your legs. Here’s how to keep your veins happy and healthy while you travel this holiday season:
1. Get moving when you can
Walk up and down the aisle every hour or so during long flights to keep your blood flowing.

2. Stretch your legs often
While seated, flex your ankles, point and lift your toes, and roll your feet in circles to help circulation.

3. Wear compression stockings
They help improve blood flow and reduce swelling during travel.

4. Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water and avoid too much caffeine or alcohol, which can dehydrate you and affect circulation.

5. Avoid crossing your legs
Keep your feet flat on the floor to promote healthy blood flow.

6. Choose an aisle seat when possible
It gives you more freedom to move and stretch throughout the flight.

7. Pack light but smart
Heavy carry-ons can strain your legs and back. If possible, store bags overhead instead of under your seat.

8. Know your risks
If you have a history of varicose veins, swelling, or clotting issues, talk to your doctor before traveling.

Tip: If you have a history of vein issues or concerns about traveling, talk to your doctor before your trip for personalized advice.

SAFE TRAVELS!

Compression stockings do more than support your legs. They help improve circulation, reduce swelling, and ease symptoms caused by varicose veins and venous insufficiency.

By applying gentle, graduated pressure, they help move blood upward toward the heart, prevent fluid buildup, and keep your legs feeling lighter throughout the day.

Who should wear compression stockings?
• Anyone with varicose veins or spider veins
• People who experience leg swelling, heaviness, or fatigue
• Those who stand or sit for long periods
• Pregnant women who notice new or worsening vein symptoms
• Individuals recovering from vein procedures
• Travelers taking long car rides or flights
• People with a family history of vein disease

Wearing compression stockings consistently can protect your vein health and help prevent daily discomfort.

If you’re unsure which type or compression level is right for you, we’re always here to guide you.

Your diet plays a big role in your circulation and overall vein health!

Certain foods can help strengthen your veins, while others may make swelling, heaviness, and discomfort worse.

Foods that support healthy veins:
✅ Fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C (like oranges, berries, and bell peppers) help strengthen vein walls.
✅ Leafy greens and fiber-rich foods (like spinach, kale, oats, and beans) improve circulation and reduce inflammation.
✅ Lean proteins and omega-3-rich foods (like salmon and walnuts) support healthy blood flow.
✅ Plenty of water helps prevent dehydration and keeps blood moving smoothly.

Foods to limit or avoid:
🚫 Processed foods high in salt (they can cause fluid retention and swelling in the legs.)
🚫 Sugary snacks and refined carbs (they can contribute to inflammation and weight gain, which puts pressure on your veins.)
🚫 Excess caffeine or alcohol (these can lead to dehydration and make symptoms like leg cramps or heaviness worse.)

Healthy eating habits can go a long way toward improving your circulation and preventing vein issues from getting worse.

Spider veins are small, visible veins that appear near the surface of the skin, often on the legs or face. They form when tiny vein valves weaken and blood begins to pool.

You’re more likely to get them if you spend long hours sitting or standing, experience hormonal changes, or have a family history of vein issues.

The good news is that sclerotherapy is a simple, in-office treatment that helps fade spider veins safely with little to no downtime.

Many people think spider veins are just cosmetic, but they can also be a sign of poor circulation.
