This April, we’re looking for compassionate individuals who want to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

At Prairie Wind Hospice, our volunteers bring comfort simply by being present—whether through conversation, reading, sharing music, or quiet companionship. šŸ’š

Even just one hour a week can have a lasting impact on patients and families facing serious illness.

No medical experience is needed—just a caring heart.

šŸ’š Celebrating Our Volunteers – National Volunteer Month šŸ’š

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of taking some of our amazing Topeka and Lawrence volunteers out to dinner at LongHorn Steakhouse to celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month.

Our volunteers are truly the heart of Prairie Wind Hospice. They bring comfort, compassion, and meaningful connection to our patients and families during some of life’s most important moments. Whether it’s sharing a conversation, reading, playing a game, or simply being present—what they do matters more than words can express.

We are so grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for the kindness, time, and heart you give so freely. šŸ’š

If you’re in the Topeka area and have ever considered volunteering, we would love to have you join our team. Even an hour a week can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

At Prairie Wind Hospice, we know how important it is to hold onto meaningful memories after the loss of a loved one.

Our 🧸Memory Bear Program 🧸 provides families with a special keepsake—each bear is handmade by a volunteer using clothing from your loved one, creating a tangible reminder of the love and memories you shared.

Each bear is crafted with care, compassion, and respect. Families receive one Memory Bear at no cost, with the option to request additional bears if desired.

These bears often become cherished reminders, offering comfort during a difficult time.

If you would like more information about the Memory Bear Program or how to become a volunteer, please feel free to reach out.

🌟 Volunteers Needed in Topeka 🌟

Prairie Wind Hospice is currently looking for compassionate volunteers in the Topeka area who would like to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

Many of our patients simply ask for someone to visit, talk, read, play a game, share music, or offer quiet companionship. These small moments can bring tremendous comfort to patients and families during an important time.

Volunteer roles are not medical or caregiving—our clinical team handles that. Volunteers simply offer their time, presence, and kindness.

We are especially looking for volunteers in and around Topeka, Kansas, and welcome people from all backgrounds. Even an hour a week can make a meaningful impact.

šŸ“ Flexible schedules
šŸ“ Meaningful service
šŸ“ Training provided

If you’ve ever considered hospice volunteering, now is a wonderful time to get involved.

šŸ“© Send us a message or email mbrockhouse@prairiewindhospice.com to learn more.

Please feel free to share this post to help us reach others who may want to serve our Topeka community.
