🎉 15 YEARS of Tina Hanna 🎉
Fifteen years ago, Tina stepped into SCI when things were… let’s just say financially spicy 🌶️. What followed has been nothing short of transformational.
Because of Tina, we are now a self-sustaining nonprofit built on big ideas and even bigger heart. Today, SCI offers vast vocational opportunities that meet people where they are—litter crews and janitorial services out in the community, working the food truck, making deliveries across the state, running the SCI Supply store, building in the pallet shop, and keeping things moving in the warehouse. Purpose, dignity, and real work—every single day.
Beyond vocational impact, Tina helped grow SCI into so much more: adaptive warehouses, an entertainment trailer, an adult day program for PEEPS who need less labor-intensive work, and two thriving group homes that provide stability and belonging. We became a CHDO, built affordable housing, completed a 20-unit LIHTC development, created the parklet, and helped revitalize the southwest quadrant of Shawnee—all while building meaningful relationships across the state.
Along the way, we’ve been honored in ways that helped spotlight our PEEPS, giving them a statewide platform to show the world what we already know—that they are just like everyone else and deserve the opportunity to live a full, meaningful life.
And then there’s the joy. Through Night to Dream and the Spectacular Olympics, Tina has created signature community events that intentionally integrate our PEEPS with community leaders, breaking barriers, building friendships, and reminding everyone what true inclusion looks like. Add in the dancing, singing, talent shows, and a few legendary parties, and you’ve got the full SCI experience 💃🎤
Tina, thank you for believing in what this organization could be—and for building it with courage, compassion, and a whole lot of heart. We can’t wait to see the impact you continue to make.
