The bug is back. And we are certainly seeing it. The new vaccine protects against the strain of COVID that is causing most of the trouble these days. It is available in local pharmacies, and our practice will be reaching out when it is available in the clinics.

The AAFP, after an expedited evidence review, has approved FDA and CDC action that allow broad use of updated COVID-19 vaccines.

Metformin is the most commonly prescribed medication for diabetes, and a lot of people are concerned about safety issues, in light of this report. Please note that these reports are from other countries, including Singapore, and there have been no reports of contamination in the US. As there is no medication comparable to Metformin, patient are advised not to stop this medication until further information is available. We will continue to monitor this situation.
