It's Earth Day and SSM Health is dedicated to caring for our planet, not just today, but every day. In fact, SSM Health is committed to cutting emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050! As part of this system-wide strategy, SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital-Shawnee is host to the first SSM Health solar installation in Oklahoma. James Larson, director of plant operations at the hospital, stands in the nearly 1.5 acre field near W. MacArthur Street and Kethley Road that is now home to a solar panel field that will generate renewable energy for the Shawnee campus. Watch for more energy efficient updates to Oklahoma's SSM Health sites in the future. This is in action! 💪 😎

Please note, our SSM Health Medical Group clinic in Tecumseh, located at 418 E. Walnut St., will be closed tomorrow morning, April 22, 2026, due to a scheduled power outage. We are incredibly grateful to for its transformative $3 million gift to support the renovation and modernization of the Cancer Center at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital-Shawnee. This critical investment marks a major step forward in expanding access to high-quality cancer care for patients across Pottawatomie, Seminole and Lincoln counties and surrounding rural communities.

Oklahoma’s cancer incidence rate exceeds the national average, with the Center’s primary service area reporting even higher rates, including Pottawatomie County, which ranks among the highest in the state. Thank you, Avedis, for all you do for our community.

Veggie Rx is now accepting participants for the next free 12-week Shawnee program starting in May. Eligible participants can enroll to receive a prescription for up to $25 per week to spend on fresh fruit and vegetables! Participants must attend one orientation session and do lab work to start the program. Prescriptions can be redeemed at any FireLake Discount Foods location. After completing the 12-week program, participants will visit SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Shawnee to do post-lab work to measure their health results.

Thank you to everyone who showed up at the Potawatomi Fire Pink Out game, April 9, at Firelake Arena. Your support and love for the community's brave and strong breast cancer survivors and caregivers from our hospital brings us so much joy. We invited survivors and team members from the hospital's Cancer Center and Breast Center out on the arena floor during halftime for this incredible group photo.

And, thank you to the Fire Girls for presenting us with special team jerseys and to the hospital team members who showed up in our own pink team shirts.

Of course, we couldn't do it without support from our friends at First United Bank who sponsored the photo booth (post your photo booth pics in the comments), Gordon Cooper Technology Center and David Qualls and his team for allowing us this opportunity.
