Paula Kaye Barber

Paula Kaye Barber, resident of Shawnee, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. She was 83 years old. Paula was born on August 17, 1942, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Nelson and Betty Greene. She married Charles “Chuck” Barber on June 17, 1961, at New Hope Baptist Church. Chuck’s work took the family to Arkansas, Tennessee, and finally to Denver, Colorado. When the pair retired in 1996, they embarked on one of their greatest adventures: they sold all of their belongings, bought a 42-foot catamaran sailboat, and sailed around the Caribbean and Central America with Chuck’s sister, Beverly, aka “Sissy,” and his brother-in-law, Charlie.

After their great adventure, Paula and her family settled in Shawnee, Oklahoma and opened Benedict Street Marketplace. They were known for their excellent customer service and great food.

One of Paula’s greatest legacies will be the facility she and Chuck gifted to Project Gabriel. Helping pregnant women in crisis was near and dear to Paula’s heart and her gift will continue to help women in the Shawnee community indefinitely.

Paula and Chuck had a closeness in their marriage that was felt by everyone, especially their family. Her grandchildren gained an understanding of what marriage should be through her devotion to Chuck and to God.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Betty Greene, her husband, Chuck Barber, and her son, Greg Barber.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rebecca Stapleton and husband Tad, her son, Michael “Mike” Barber and wife Devra, grandchildren, Jessika Mullendore, Jakob Neal, Haleigh Rasch, Emily Rios, Jonathan Stapleton, Henry Stapleton, Jack Stapleton, Jane Stapleton, Kalyn Davis, Mikala Barber, Jennifer Magness, William Barber, and Courtney Schwiebert, sister-in-law, Beverly “Sissy” Whittle, and many great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Following the ceremony, Paula will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Mark Kincheloe, Jake Neal, Tad Stapleton, Eric Cook, Luke Rash, and Rex Anderson.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Project Gabriel. Please make checks payable to St. Benedict Church (with 'Project Gabriel' in the memo), 632 N. Kickapoo Ave., Shawnee, OK 74801.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral & Cremation Service.

Bonetta Kay Easterling

Easterling, Bonetta Kay "Bonnie", age 82 of Shawnee passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, in Shawnee. Bonnie was born on March 29, 1943, to Otto and Dee Huskey in Wichita Falls, TX. Bonnie was raised in Pawnee, Oklahoma before marrying James Easterling in the early 1960s and then traveling up and down the eastern seaboard of the United States with him in the military. Later, the family settled in the DFW Texas area. Bonnie was a voracious reader, delving into books about fantasy, sci-fi, romance, and westerns. Additionally, Bonnie loved animals and would dote on the dogs, cats, and horses she came to know. Her knack for caring for plants was also well known among her friends. She could nurse almost any plant into thriving health. Those who knew her best recognized her welcoming of others. A "social butterfly" was one of the terms Bonnie embodied. Whether telling stories, or just listening to others, Bonnie was quite at home in the company of others.

Survivors include her daughter Laura Easterling and husband Mark of Denton, TX, sister Linda Miller of Shawnee, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband James as well as her sisters Joyce Callan and Loretta Jo Cookston.

A ceremony to celebrate Bonnie's life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, January 4, 2026 in the Chapel at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service with SSM Hospice Chaplain Matt Wyatt officiating.

Jimmie Lee Tollison

Jim Tollison, 75, went home to be with Jesus on December 13, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and pastor, “Brother Jim” will forever be remembered for his genuine smile, love of people, and gift for turning every interaction with someone into a story worth retelling.

Born on September 1, 1950, in Sikeston, Missouri, Jim was the son of Willie and Helen Tollison. He graduated from New Madrid High School in 1968 and soon married the love of his life, Becky, in 1969. From the very beginning, Becky stood faithfully beside Jim, supporting and encouraging him through every season of life and ministry. Their marriage of 56 years was a shining example of commitment, companionship, and shared devotion to Christ.

Together they created a family filled with laughter and unconditional love, raising four children—Jennifer (and Mark) Malugen, Heather (and Ed) Harper, Jimmy (and Julie) Tollison, and Taylor (and Beth Ann) Tollison. In their own ways, they each carry forward Jim’s rich legacy of faith and love that touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Jim was especially proud of and adored by his 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who endearingly knew him as “Papa.”

From 1970 to 1976, Jim proudly served in the National Guard. His call to ministry began in 1977, leading to a lifelong devotion to preaching God’s word. Over the next 48 years, he pastored eight churches with boundless energy, touching countless lives through his preaching, fellowship, and shepherding presence, always supported by Becky’s quiet strength, hospitality, and prayer. Further deepening his commitment to his calling, he continued his education at Central Baptist College, graduating in 1991, an accomplishment that reflected his desire for lifelong learning.

To know Jim was to know joy. He loved fishing on quiet mornings, reading a good book, writing and playing music, or cheering on his kids and grandkids at their countless sporting events—Becky always right beside him. Whether sharing stories at a church potluck or leading a song with his guitar, his presence brought humor and happiness to every gathering. Known for his ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, about just about anything, to him, strangers were simply friends he hadn’t met yet. With his boundless laughter, love of food, and endless storytelling, he could make anyone feel like family within minutes of meeting them. His influence will live on in his family, friends, and in the many congregations and communities he served so faithfully.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s remarkable life and ministry will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1410 N. Porter Rd, Fayetteville, Arkansas. His family invites all who knew him to join in honoring a truly extraordinary man who never stopped loving and laughing.

Ronda Fay Clark

Ronda Cox Clark, 77, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home-affectionately known as Clark Corner-on December 11, 2025.

Ronda was born on March 23, 1948, in Long Beach, California, to Ron and Thelma Cox. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 1966 and married the love of her life, Thomas "Tom" Clark, in 1967. Together they built a life filled with family, travel, and stories that could last for hours.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom; her parents Ron and Thelma Cox; her brother Randall "Randy" Cox; her beloved grandson Kye Clark; her brothers-in-law Billy Clark and Harold Clark; and her sisters-in-law Annabeth Clark and Linda Clark.

Ronda is survived by her sons, Jason and Lindsay Clark of Jacktown, Oklahoma, and Josh and Kasey Clark of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her sisters-in-law Vicki Cox of Rogers, Arkansas, and Carolyn Christian of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and her cherished grandchildren Barrett Clark, Crew Clark, and Kamry Clark. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of "extra sons" who proudly called her Mom.

Ronda lived in the Dale area since the late 1970s and was a Christian who grew up in the Assembly of God Church. Her faith and her family were central to her life. She loved her family fiercely and would do anything for them-especially spoiling her grandchildren, which she considered one of her greatest joys.

Before Tom's passing, Ronda and Tom loved to travel, particularly to Navy reunions and visits with family in Arkansas and Georgia. She was known for her gift of conversation-she could out-talk anyone and happily talk about nothing for hours. She also enjoyed shopping and could often be found cruising the aisles of Ross or Goodwill.

Ronda was famous for her homemade tea, cookies, yeast rolls, and especially her tacos-and everyone knew how special those tacos were. She enjoyed volunteering at church events with her friends and sharing stories about her memorable "mid-life-crisis" cars, including a show truck featured in Truckin' magazine and a Z28 Camaro. She never forgot the '64 Impala, Tom's ugly green Dodge, or the '56 Thunderbird she always wanted.

Camping at the lake was another family staple, though Ronda never fully embraced the roughing-it lifestyle. No matter where she camped, she was never far from her curling iron, hairspray, makeup, and jewelry.

Ronda was a devoted stay-at-home mother when her boys were young. Once they were in school, she worked primarily in retail, including Hallmark, Gordon's Jewelry, Zales, and Gold Expressions, before finishing her working years at Shawnee Medical Center Clinic.

She lived at Clark Corner for nearly 50 years and even weathered a direct tornado hit in 2013-a testament to her resilience and strength.

Ronda will be remembered as one of the most loving, talkative, and unforgettable people to know. Her laughter, stories, and generous heart will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Ronda's life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Walker Funeral and Cremation Service. Following the service, burial will take place at Dale Cemetery.

Ray Rose

George Raymond "Ray" Rose passed away on Friday, November 28th surrounded by his wife and daughters. Quick with a pun, or his infamous dad jokes, he was full of laughter and led with kindness first. He was a man that combined the farming work ethic with intelligence, kindness, peace, and humor in a way that allowed him to quietly change the lives around him.

Ray, son of George and Mildred Rose, was born on September 24, 1943, at Shawnee Municipal Hospital. He spent his childhood farming in Shawnee, working and playing alongside his cousins Dave Parris and Janice Hopkins-Fockele. Ray received his education at Pleasant Grove Elementary School, followed by Shawnee Junior High, and Senior High Schools.

First in his family to earn a college degree, Ray graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1965. He met his wife, Audrey Smith Page Rose, as a Freshman in calculus class at OBU where she never let him forget she earned a better grade (and she will tell you it is the only time it happened)! They wed on March 27, 1965, in Wichita, Kansas and complemented each other throughout their married lives.

Ray and Audrey pursued further education following their undergraduate studies; Ray earned a master's degree in physics and completed all doctoral requirements except the dissertation at the University of Oklahoma in Physics. He served in the National Guard from 1967 to 1974. As an engineer, Ray contributed significantly to technological advancements. His career began at Collins Radio, followed by work with the space program at Martin Marietta, where he contributed to an experiment on Skylab. Subsequently, Ray entered the aeronautical sector, developing simulators at United Airlines in Denver and later at Burtek in Tulsa. Ultimately, he played a role in founding CymSTAR where he retired as the Chief Engineer and was well known in his field.

Throughout his education and career, Ray was a dedicated father to Linda Rose and Karen Rose, encouraging honesty, service, and laughter. He demonstrated his love for others through his calm demeanor, kind nature, and giving manner. With Audrey, he participated/ led Celebrate Recovery and became involved in work with orphans in Russia and Africa. They taught a college age Sunday School class for several years. In retirement, he worked with the Grove Robotics team, helping support them in their quest for national championships and impacting the lives of young men and women. Together, Audrey and Ray demonstrated the action to serve those people around them in need.

Mr. Rose is survived by his wife, Audrey Smith Page Rose of Shawnee; daughters Linda Rose (Chris Gibney) of Memphis, TN, and Karen Rose (Daron Hitt) of Choctaw, OK; and granddaughters Helen Lydia Craig and Emma Rose Hitt. Additionally he is survived by his sister - in-law Nancy Page Zook of DeBary, Florida, nieces and nephews, and many cousins including Dave and Janice. His parents and his sister Pearl Simpson Horne preceded him in death. With a legacy marked by his intellect and generosity, he had a positive influence on those who knew him. He is in heaven, having great conversations and solving the ultimate puzzle, all while telling the best corny joke.

Friends and loved ones are invited to a celebration of Ray's life, with reception following, to be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 20, 2025 in the chapel at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Aaron Hembree of Heritage Church officiating. Ray will be laid to rest privately at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee.

Ray loved giving to help others, so in lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity or help someone in need.
