Pretend Play = Powerful Speech Practice!

When kids play with toys like dollhouses, they’re doing more than having fun, they’re building speech and language skills! Pretend play helps children practice new words, put ideas together, take turns, and tell little stories.

For children who use AAC, play is a perfect time to model and use their device in a natural way, no pressure, just communication!

Try modeling simple messages like “baby eat,” “go sleep,” or single words "eat", "more", "up", etc

Parent tip: Follow your child’s lead, talk (or model on AAC) about what’s happening, and enjoy the play. Language grows best through connection and fun! 💬🧠🎭
