🧠 What is Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)?

Ever wonder how many calories your body burns even if you did absolutely nothing all day? (No workouts… no steps… just existing 😅)

That number is called your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).

🔥 BMR = the calories your body needs to stay alive
It’s what fuels things like:
✅ breathing
✅ heartbeat
✅ brain function
✅ digestion
✅ body temperature

So even on your “rest day,” your body is still working hard!

📌 Easy way to estimate your BMR:
A quick rule of thumb:

➡️ Men: body weight (lbs) × 11
➡️ Women: body weight (lbs) × 10

Example:
If you weigh 200 lbs (male):
200 × 11 = 2,200 calories/day (estimated BMR)

💡 Why does this matter?
Knowing your BMR helps you understand:

🔥 What is a Calorie Deficit (and what’s a SAFE one)? 🔥
Trying to lose fat but don’t want to feel exhausted, weak, or “crash diet” your way there? Let’s break it down 👇

✅ What is a calorie deficit?
A calorie deficit simply means you’re eating slightly fewer calories than your body burns each day.
When that happens, your body taps into stored energy (body fat) to make up the difference.

💡 Think of it like a bank account:
If you “spend” more than you “deposit,” your body uses savings (fat).

🏃‍♂️ How big should the deficit be? (Safe + effective)
A safe deficit for most people is about:
➡️ 250–500 calories per day
That usually leads to about 0.5–1 lb of fat loss per week (steady, sustainable progress).

⚠️ Bigger is NOT always better
Going too aggressive can lead to:
❌ low energy
❌ muscle loss
