ICC welcomes clients from all walks of life, and various beliefs. One particular area of focus is with clients of the Christian faith. We will help you face life and be strong in your faith. These "things" can be some of the most difficult issues we have faced in our lives, our worst experiences, or they might be challenges we deal with every day. And yet God can bring healing, freedom and good, from even these things, if we trust Him and walk with Him. ICC is committed to helping you through this journey. satan loves to use our shame and our most regrettable failings to keep us immobilized and in a state of feeling unforgivable. But this is so far from God’s truth.

When Jesus died on the cross, everything, including our deepest regrets and unmentionable shame were paid for in full. And then to prove sin had no power over him, he rose back to life again. It has been paid in full. If we ask, it is forgiven.

I love these verses of truth and hope:

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 1:9 KJV. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

Psalm 103:12. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Romans 8:28. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Thoughts on forgiveness:

I heard someone talking about forgiveness today and they asked the question: “Does it let someone off the hook when you forgive them?” It occurred to me, no it doesn’t. It doesn’t erase the hurt or remove the consequences. But for me as a Christian, it means I am giving the hook to God to handle, to do what He sees best with it. I can trust how He will handle it with the person and the wrong (whether He forgives them or doesn’t forgive them). It takes it from an issue between them and me, and puts it where it belongs, a spiritual issue between them and God. How freeing for me, as the Creator of Everything knows what is best for His creation!

"Be kind and compassionate
to one another, forgiving
each other, just as in
Christ God forgave you."
Ephesians 4:32

"Bear with each other and
forgive one another if any
of you has a grievance
against someone. Forgive as
the Lord forgave you."
Colossians 3:13

"If You, Lord, should
mark iniquities, O Lord,
who could stand? But
there is forgiveness with
You, that You may be feared."
Psalm 130:3-4

All these new commercials for online gambling make me extremely concerned, since it was recently legalized in Michigan. They all have an enticing offer such as matching your first amount, or guaranteed first bets, etc. I am sure a lot of scientific research has gone into what it takes to get people addicted to gambling. There is no other reason to offer something for nothing. Be smart and don’t open the door to gambling addiction. It ruins lives.

If it sounds too good to be true...

A friend shared this today:

You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee? You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. The point is whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out. Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which will happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled. So, we have to ask ourselves, "what's in my cup?" When life gets tough, what spills out? Joy, gratefulness, peace, and humility? Or does anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions come out? You choose! Starting today, let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, kindness, gentleness and love for others. ❤

Strength:

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

I have been called out many times for being strong-willed. I used to think it was a bad thing. I realize strength is a gift from God. When it is aligned with his will, it is good. Dear God. Thank you for the strength you have given me that sustains me and gives me hope. It is a true gift! Help my strong will be your will!

Romans 8 is one of a number of favorites in the Bible. It challenges me and gives me assurance. Today’s verse on my Bible app comes from:

Romans 8:26 - “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

There have been many times in my life thus far that I have clung to this verse trusting God’s Holy Spirit would intercede and pray for me because I was not able. There have even been times when I would call out “ Holy Spirit! You had better be praying for me because I cannot!” (I was too hurt or to grief stricken or too angry to pray.) Thank you God for your deep care for me, that you would provide for me in my deepest times of need.
