Congratulations to Kristen Boumans, a Valier School District 18 senior, for being awarded the Winslow Nichols Leadership Award! As the Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Kristen strives for excellence in the classroom as well as in any activity or organization she is involved in.
Kristen’s high standards are also reflected in her extensive involvement in extracurricular and community activities. A dedicated member of Wingina 4‑H since childhood, she has taken on leadership roles such as club president and 4‑H Ambassador while excelling in horse-related competitions and projects. Kristen has led the group in planning and implementing many community events, such as Whoop-Up Street Dance and Marias Fairground improvements. She also remains active in the Valier FFA chapter, earning numerous accolades and holding leadership positions all four years. In addition, Kristen contributes significantly to Valier High School organizations like National Honor Society and Student Council, helping plan major community and school events, such as Veterans Day breakfast, Christmas toy drive and food drive, highway and community clean up, “Soctober”, and the various pep assemblies for sporting events. Across every commitment, she consistently upholds the same strong work ethic and high expectations for herself.
