Tammy and Tony Thomas provide financial education to Awake residents through a monthly money management class. Since budgeting isn’t most people’s favorite subject, they designed an interactive “Game of Life” to make the class engaging and practical. Using play money, residents walk through scenarios based on what life may look like after graduating from the program.

Tammy brings her background in banking—along with six years of service as Awake’s Treasurer—to the class. One area frequently highlighted is the cumulative cost of small, daily purchases. Many residents are surprised to see how much convenience store items, such as energy drinks or ci******es, can total in a single month.

It was a busy day yesterday at the Food Bank! We had over 1000 loaves of bread to give out along with frozen meat and more. Shout out to the volunteers from Matalco who joined us on the line! 🍞🍗🌽

Happy Birthday, Sean! 🎉

Sean Graham is the newest addition to the Awake team, bringing valuable leadership experience from his previous nonprofit work into his role as Development Specialist. In a short time, he’s already become a key part of our staff as he helps share Awake’s mission throughout our community.

We’re so grateful to have Sean on our team and pray this year is full of continued transformation and blessing. Join us in wishing him a happy birthday!
