Introducing our coaches for Team Iowa - Volleyball for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games: Mindy, Deb and Sara! These three have the great privilege of preparing our athletes for their upcoming competition this June in Minneapolis. Our thanks to them for their work so far! We look forward to seeing them all in action.

Getting cozy with fun drinks in the Brews and Beyond class! We explored different coffee brews, roasted our own beans, and enjoyed the whole experience together! 🫘☕

Our Snoezelen Room is a multi-sensory environment designed to support relaxation, engagement, and sensory exploration 💡🎶 From colorful lighting and soothing sounds to hands-on textures and calming scents, this space is used to help individuals feel comfortable, regulated, and at ease.

Sensory items in this room can help an individual relax their minds and bodies. The different items can calm an anxious mind, decrease outbursts, pacing, and promote a relaxed body posture. Some of these tools/items include: lights, switches, massaging tools, music, swings, beads, rice, sand, sensory wall, and sounds. 🎧

Once a resident enters, they are welcome to find the item they prefer. These tools help the residents according to their emotions. The goal of Snoezelen is to provide a place where residents know they can come in and have a peace of mind.

Everyone deserves to relax—and in the Snoezelen room, our residents are learning to find calm for both mind and body. 💆‍♂️

“I’m embarrassed to say when I started as a [teenager] I thought, ‘oh, how I can help these people.’ Instead, I would have to say they have helped me and taught me so much. I’ve learned how to be grateful, authentic and see the value in every life!”

A little Minnesota recap! We spent our mini-vacation exploring St. Paul, Minneapolis and Duluth, taking in the Christmas lights, views and everything in between. From sightseeing to just enjoying the moment, this trip was an absolute blast! ❄️🎄
