Valley Orthopaedic Specialists is a full-service orthopaedic practice dedicated to complete musculoskeletal care. Locations in Shelton, Oxford, Fairfield.

With both general orthopaedic surgeons and fellowship-trained specialists in total joint replacement, foot and ankle surgery, spine surgery, hand surgery, pediatric orthopaedics and sports medicine; we are the areas most comprehensive orthopaedic practice. VOS is committed to providing expedient care for emergent orthopaedic injuries. We realize that an emergency room visit can sometimes result in many hours spent in the hospital as well as high co-payments only to end up with a recommendation to follow up with an Orthopaedic Surgeon. With this in mind, our physicians have several appointments in their schedule each day to accommodate our patients who do not feel an emergency room visit is required. Getting hurt is painful enough. Our practice is dedicated to treating you with the highest of care. Our highly-trained staff makes a special effort to ensure that your office and surgery experience are as pleasant as possible. VOS has on-site X-Ray imaging to simplify and expedite your care, and our physical and occupational therapists are ready to assist in your pre- and post-operative rehabilitation needs. Although we are trained as orthopaedic surgeons, most of the conditions we treat can be helped without surgical intervention. Courtney is a compassionate and understanding certified physician assistant who is dedicated about delivering patient-centered care and improving overall quality of life for her patients. 🩺💙

In addition to seeing patients in-office, Courtney will also be assisting our physicians in surgical cases, bringing her skill and dedication into the operating room as well.

🏅 A huge congratulations to our very own Dr. Darryl Whitney on his induction into the University of Southern Maine’s Department of Athletics Hall of Fame! 🎉

A standout student-athlete, Dr. Whitney was a two-time Academic All-American in cross country and track & field, and made history as the first USM men’s track & field athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship competing in the 1500 meters.

Throughout his collegiate career, he earned an incredible 15 All-Little East Conference citations and was a three-time Division III All-New England honoree.
