Deb made her first kettle of soap in 1991 while living a "back to basics" livestyle, on a large farm in Eatonville, Washington, in the shadow of Mt. In 1996 she officially started Shepherd's Soap Co., and moved into a gift shop/factory on Highway 101 North, in the Olympic Peninsula Region. By the year 2000 she had outgrown the cozy little store, and moved to a much larger location in downtown Shelton. Trying to wear the various hats of manufacturer, marketing department, new product development, and retail storefront owner, all on her own, proved to be too demanding. So, in 2004, she relocated once again to a commercial factory where the company is presently located, as a manufacturer, wholesaler, and retailer. Our retail outlet is at the Olympia Farmer's Market (open 4 days per week from April thru December). Over time, our product line has grown to include not only luxurious, moisturizing Soaps, but Bath Fizzies, Lip Balms, Solid Lotion Bars in roll-up tubes, Sweetcakes (sugar infused and encrusted soap blocks for awesome exfoliating), Coconut Milk Sugar Scrubs, fabulous Body Butters, refreshing Spritzers, uber-moisturizing fizzing Cocoa Butter Bath Truffles, Deodorant sticks, Bath Salts, and some Very European drawer sachet tablets.

Deb made her first kettle of soap in 1991 while living on a big, beautiful farm in Eatonville, Washington. Soapmaking quickly became one of her favorite ‘chores’ to do with neighboring friends. Living a Mother Earth, "back to basics" lifestyle, where elk herds gather in the pastures against a backdrop of majestic Mt. Rainier has a way of inspiring a tremendous love of nature and removing all shackles of fear. It’s both grounding and empowering. Having previously started a business in Kodiak, Alaska, she had absolutely no fear of turning her passion into an art form, and a livelihood by which she could raise her children.
Relocating to the Olympic Peninsula area of the great Pacific Northwest, where she had grown up in the 60’s, Deb officially launched Riverdance Soapworks, LLC (under the name Shepherd’s Soap Co.originally) and moved into a small factory/gift shop on Highway 101. Two years later, she had outgrown the cozy store, and moved into a much larger retail location in the City. Wearing ALL the hats of a manufacturing business owner and single mother of two, somehow eventually took a lot of the fun out of it. So, in 2004, she relocated once again to a 2000 sq. ft. warehouse, where the company is presently located, operating primarily as a production facility (although locals frequently stop in to see what’s happening and make their purchases). Other than that, our retail outlets include the Olympia Farmer's Market, our website at www.riverdancesoapworks.com, and at a growing number of markets and shows. Of course, we also welcome custom/private label wholesalers, as well as custom orders for special events.
Our current (and growing) product line includes all-natural, luxurious artisan soaps, bath fizzies/bombs, lip balms, bubble bars and bubble scoops, coconut milk sugar scrubs, fabulous whipped body butters, refreshing spritzers, bath salts, shower steamers, charcoal complexion soap pucks, shaving pucks and shampoo bars, deodorant sticks, laundry soap, and stain remover. Some of our most famous products include our Essential Therapy (formerly known as Healing Therapy), and our Step-It-Up Foot Treatment solid lotion and companion, The Other Walking Stick Foot & Shoe spray.
We absolutely LOVE what we do, and are forever grateful to our loyal customers who have made us a tradition in their homes for over two decades, and who bring us new friends daily. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support and encouragement. We couldn’t do it without you!
