The Alzheimer's Association® has joined the Fairfield County Medical Association (FCMA) as an Affinity Partner, strengthening a shared commitment to supporting and enhancing care for patients affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Through this partnership, the Alzheimer's Association® provides valuable resources and tools to help physicians better support patients and their families. Healthcare professionals can access continuing education, clinical guidelines, and specialized trainings made possible by a Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure grant funded by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

Physicians and healthcare professionals seeking information on support groups, education programs, and professional training can call the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline at 1-800-272-3900 or visit alz.org/ct.

FCMA is proud to collaborate with organizations that equip physicians with the knowledge and resources needed to deliver compassionate, informed care to the communities they serve. To learn more about FCMA Affinity Partnerships and membership, visit fcma.org.

National Women Physicians Day is celebrated each year on February 3 in honor of the birthday of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States in 1849. This important day recognizes the dedication, leadership, and lasting impact of women in medicine, who now represent a significant portion of the physician workforce and more than half of all medical students.

The Fairfield County Medical Association is proud to recognize all of the women physicians within our membership. We extend special appreciation to the seven women physicians who generously volunteer their time and expertise to serve on the FCMA Board of Trustees: Jill Denowitz, MD; Emilia Genova, MD; Andrea Hagani, MD; Robyn Matloff, MD, MPH; Robin Oshman, MD, PhD; JoAnn Smith, MD; and Cristina Tamasdan, MD. Their insight, commitment, and leadership help strengthen our organization and advance our mission to support physicians and advocate for high-quality patient care throughout Fairfield County.

Today, and every day, FCMA celebrates the extraordinary contributions of women physicians and the vital role they play in shaping the future of healthcare.

Leadership is not about standing on the sidelines. It is about showing up and engaging in the conversations that shape healthcare. I appreciated the opportunity to speak with Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont and State Representative Sarah Keitt about the priorities of our community and the future of patient care in Connecticut.

Advocacy is a core pillar of the Fairfield County Medical Association, and meaningful progress begins with strong relationships. We welcome who are committed to shaping the future of medicine to join the conversation at fcma.org.

of Fairfield County: Your Voice Matters

Physicians are strongly encouraged to join us for the FCMA 2026 Virtual Legislative Forum for Physicians on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. This is a critical opportunity for our community to engage directly with Connecticut’s lawmakers on the issues that most impact patient care and medical practice.

Our collective participation sends a clear and powerful message: physicians in Fairfield County are engaged, informed, and committed to advocacy, particularly around key priorities such as patient safety, scope of practice, prior authorization reform, and Medicaid reimbursement. Email JohnB@fcma.org to receive the Zoom link.

We are pleased to share that 15 members of the State of Connecticut General Assembly have already committed to attend, including four State Senators and eleven State Representatives, and we expect participation to continue to grow. Their willingness to meet with us reflects the importance of a strong physician presence at the table.

Legislators planning to attend include:

Senators: Ryan Fazio, State Senator Ceci Maher, Jason Perillo, and Senator Heather Somers

State Representatives: Jillian Gilchrest, State Representative Ken Gucker, State Representative Anne Hughes, State Representative Dominique Johnson, State Representative Sarah Keitt, State Rep. Kathy Kennedy, Nicole Klarides-Ditria, State Representative Jennifer Leeper, State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey, State Representative David Rutigliano, and State Representative Jonathan P. Steinberg. Fcma.org
