Stigma remains one of the biggest barriers to individuals seeking help for mental health, substance use, and developmental challenges. It creates silence, shame, and isolation, preventing people from reaching out, speaking up, or getting the support they need. For many, the fear of being judged outweighs the hope of recovery.

Stand Up to Stigma is more than just an event; it’s a movement to shift the conversation. We aim to break down harmful stereotypes through powerful storytelling, community engagement, and open dialogue while building a culture of compassion and understanding.

Seven Counties Services, which provides mental and behavioral health assistance, is one of several organizations set up in the new Community Outreach Center, located at 200 High Rise Drive off Fern Valley Road. The groups are providing information and various resources for those needing help in the aftermath of the crash.

"We're offering support for individuals who may have been affected in some way by the plane crash," Romano said. "Whether they were an active part of the scene, or just the distress of knowing a tragedy like this has happened in our community."

As Louisville begins to heal, experts emphasize that emotional recovery takes time, and no one should face it alone. “Someone who can help you from a positive perspective, to build on the strengths you already have, so you can cope and move forward from the emotions holding you back,” Robinson added.

If you or someone you know needs support, you can call or text 988 any time to connect with trained counselors who are ready to listen.

Today we proudly recognize Veterans Day and honor those who have served our country, including our very own Paulette Westrup, Director of Revenue Cycle.

After leaving the military, Paulette found a place at Seven Counties Services where she could continue serving others while using the skills she developed in the armed forces. Her leadership, discipline, and teamwork have made her a strong asset to our organization.

At Seven Counties Services, it is more than a career, it is a purpose.
