You wouldn't be who you are today without the experiences that shaped you, so you might as well learn to have an appreciation for the lessons you were taught.
I'll go first: Christianity
I was born and baptized as a baby into a Lutheran church. Went off and on growing up. Starting going again to a nondenominational one near late high school and early college as a means to connect with my bf and their family. Got baptized AGAIN. Got SA and left the church for 8+yrs. Married into a family with Southern Baptist members. Went to a Presbyterian church for a bit and felt more accepted than most places I had tried, but felt still rejected as my truest self by the heads of the church. Left for good.
I've never read the bible cover to cover, and I don't plan on it. I believe in a higher power (call them God, Spirit, Source, whatever, it doesn't matter), and I believe that that higher power is based in Love. I also believe the Universe wants to be in balance, so there is an equivalent denser energy. What I don't believe in is using fear, judgement, and hatred as a means to manipulate and control people.
My "hell" is not a place filled with fire and brimstone where you are stuck for all eternity, my Hell is a world in which I stop trying to grow, trying to be better, trying to Love MORE.
I visit my Hell on occasion. He's comfortable some days. And then, I dust myself off (either on my own, or with the help of a loved one), and I get back to living my life in my version of Heaven on Earth. Because you don't need to wait for your body to die to experience Heaven. And you DAMN SURE DO NOT NEED TO LIVE EACH OF YOUR DAYS HERE ON EARTH SUFFERING.
Okay, that's all I have to say on the topic for now. Thank you for reading this far. If you take nothing else away from this please take this: YOU ARE SO LOVED. ALWAYS. And no one else has the power to take that away from you.
You are Love
You are Light
You are Whole
You are Loved
You are Complete
Namaste 🙏
