Happy Funny Friday!

It's that day of the week where we can just take a break from all the heavy and hard stuff and keep it light and funny 😅.

I hope you have a nourishing weekend. ❤️

One technique we can use to live mindfully is Mindfulness Meditation. A typical meditation consists of focusing your full attention on your breath as it flows in and out of your body without expectations.

This focus allows you to observe your thoughts as they arise in your mind and little by little, you can let go of struggling with them.

Soon enough you'll realize that thoughts come and go naturally and that you are not your thoughts.

Feelings (yes negative ones too) come and go too and ultimately you have the choice whether to act on them or not.

Mindfulness Meditation will teach us to observe without criticism and it will help us have more self-compassion and control over our lives.

Today, I am sharing one of the most basic meditations with you. It only takes a minute, but with practice you might feel like you want to increase your time. It's perfect for first timers or people that want to start cultivating the habit of meditating.

Do you meditate, or will you start? Let me know 💙👇

Are you going through your days on autopilot?

Autopilot looks like:

1. Thinking about the past and the future takes you out of the moment
2. Multitasking
3. Being in denial
4. Attaching to thoughts or observations
5. Pushing away thoughts or observations
6. Having a lack of intention
7. Having a lack of compassion
8. Judging, analyzing, criticizing or evaluating

This is your reminder to - pay attention and return to the present moment.

Anger, anxiousness, sadness, jealousy, fear, disappointed, discouraged, ashamed, defensive, desperate...

These feelings don't last.

View your feelings as you would see waves on the ocean. They come and they go.

Rather than stewing in the feelings. what if you were able to view emotions as waves hitting the beach that will inevitably break and then recede back into the ocean? Whether the waves are big or small, they all break, and they all recede.

Trying to stop a wave from breaking is nearly impossible. However, accepting that the emotions arise and noticing how they come and go are key steps of being mindful of your emotions. You can acknowledge the emotion as it appears, and also observe it as it dissipates.

See if you can watch the waves as they come to shore, noticing how big each “emotional wave" is, how frequently the waves are breaking, how your own experience is changing from moment to moment.

I get this question a lot:

Isn't meditation the same as mindfulness?

The quick answer is no, meditation is only one practice we can use to become more mindful.

Mindfulness can be practiced anytime, anywhere and it can be some of the most common everyday (seemingly boring) tasks.

Let me know which one you are going to try, or which activities you like to do mindfully - so I can add them to Part 2 😁❤️

This is your Wednesday reminder to take a moment and breathe.

Use the image as your guide to promote a deep relaxation, less stress and elevated levels of energy.

I recommend doing at least 8 to 12 rounds in the following way:

Inhale: When the ball moves up.
Hold Breathe: When the ball stops.
Exhale: When the ball rolls down.

This exercise can be a great pick-me-up when you're stressed, overwhelmed, or have intrusive thoughts.

Save it so you can use it whenever you need a moment for yourself.

Let me know in the comments if you used it and whether you found it helpful. 💜

As simple as this may seem, how many of these are you doing on a daily basis?

Most of the time people think that mindfulness consists only of meditation practice, that could not be further from the truth.

Mindfulness can be practiced with any activity - as long as you are completely present. This means that while you do any of the activities on the list, you are only focusing on that and not thinking about anything else, nor judging, or analyzing the activity.

Complete all of or most of these activities on a daily basis and watch your life change.

🛏Getting up earing and making your bed = Discipline

🏞Spending time outside = Contentment & Grounding

📵Have a phone free hour = Focus

📚Making time to read a book = Growth

👫Do something for someone = Selflessness

✍️Write down what your grateful for = Gratitude

Are you going to try this? Let me know what other activities can be added to the list.

Finally, share and save this. 💜
