How long is long enough to start seeing results?

Friends, many times we want to see results from a protocol or product instantly. Our society has trained us to have the attention span of a gnat. So we want results and we want them NOW!!! Then we get frustrated and give up when things don't happen on our expected timeline.

That isn't how the body works. One thing to keep in mind, the damage that you're experiencing didn't happen overnight. . . so the healing that you're working towards probably won't happen overnight either. You have to give the body time to work.

Did you know that when evaluating a new drug or product, clinical trials run for months? When looking for some kind of measurable difference in the body, most results aren't found until you hit at least the 3 month mark. And that's 3 months of CONSISTENT use, not that on again off again mess we like to claim is using something faithfully.

So don't give up. Those baby steps that you're taking ARE making a difference. . . as long as you keep taking them.

Stick to your Health Recipe. Take those daily actions. Then you will see results.

There are SO MANY books out there claiming to be able to give you all the secrets to living a healthier life. How do you know which ones are worth your time and effort? After all, time is precious and we all seem to be short of it.

So, we thought we'd start tackling this issue by sharing with you some books that we thought were the most helpful.

So, without further ado we recommend: The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung

With weight loss and GLP-1s being the hot new topic today, we want to highlight Dr. Fung's work. In this book Dr. Fung really takes a look at modern abundance eating where obesity has exploded and how it is different from hunter/gatherer eating patterns which contain natural periods of fasting and the effect this had on health and obesity levels.

Our Holistic Health Practitioner says - When my mom first told me about this book which her Dr. had recommended I wasn't sure about the whole concept. So I read it and Dr. Fung's points made a lot of sense to me. Then I observed the change in my parents as they implemented these ideas. WOW. They have both been diagnosed with diabetes and now one is completely off of medication while the other has been able to greatly reduce the amount of medication being taken. That's a huge win! I have also started to implement these ideas in my own life. It can be challenging at times but I am starting to see some incredible benefits. I would definitely recommend this book!

It seems like getting healthy is a tough thing right now. Life is busy and we're prone to just keep pushing through things until we can't push any more.

Sound familiar?

I remember in college, I literally had a friend tell me, "I'll sleep when I'm dead." This friend had lots of trouble sleeping and tended to stay busy. Perhaps it's time to reexamine the basic attitude we have - If it's not bad enough to stop me, I'll just keep going.

The problem with this attitude is that things that we ignore tend to get worse. And when things get worse, they take longer and longer to fix than they would have if we had worked on them earlier.

So what are the little things that you're ignoring or pushing through right now? Perhaps fixing them won't be as time consuming or life altering as you're thinking. Perhaps you could make a small change now and reap some serious benefits later.

After all, a major health crisis costs more than money. It costs time away from the ones you love. It can cost you the ability to do the things you love. Heck, if it's bad enough it can even cost you your life. You won't know until you get there. So why wait and let your health get to that point?

Health Tip:

Did you realize that your emotions can have PHYSICAL manifestations that affect your health?

Think about it. When you're nervous or excited your breath gets a little short and you have that "butterflies" feeling in your gut.

It's common knowledge that stress affects hormones, which in turn affects things like your digestive system. This in turn can make it more difficult to eat our regular foods with comfort, or even have normal bowel movements.

It's really not so much of a stretch then to think that your health issue may have an emotional component.

Emotional health one of the many things we look at as part of a comprehensive assessment during a health consultation.

When it comes to your health, don't neglect your emotions. They may be contributing more than you're aware of.

A: Great question! We specialize in helping those who are under-served in the more traditional medical model. Those who have been told everything is "normal" or they're just getting older when their body is telling them something completely different. We'd like you to Meet the Staff: Jessica Meades

Jessica is our resident Natural Health Specialist and the person our clients will be interacting with the most.

As a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, Jessica has been trained in several different techniques including muscle response testing and iridology that she uses to triangulate which body systems in each client truly need support in order to bring about the vibrant health our clients are looking for. We know that each client and situation is unique, so Jessica's natural listening skills come to the forefront as she takes her time to sit and listen as each client explains their situation. She then draws on her training and extensive knowledge to make individualized recommendations for each client.

"My goal is for each client to feel both seen and heard. I want to meet each person where they are on their own health journey. Once met, I then want to help them take that next step toward the abundant and vibrant health that they desire. That's why I like to really take my time with my clients. You'll find that my appointments tend to take much longer than what you're used to. An initial appointment usually runs between 60 to 90 minutes, so that neither my clients nor I feel rushed and we have time to really dig down to the roots of their issue or complaint. People are so much more than just their physical bodies. I minister to the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. It is only by taking into account the whole person that true healing can be found."

So many times we treat symptoms as the problem. Symptoms are more like road signs that point to the problem.

Fatigue? Brain fog? Insomnia? Constipation? Nausea? Joint Pain? Seasonal allergies? Mood swings? Cramps? Upset stomach? Acid burn? High/Low sugar? Cholesterol? Blood pressure? Low immune function? These are all just symptoms (and there are so many more) pointing to something deeper.

Don't stop looking when you get to the symptom. Ask "Why". Why is this symptom appearing? What does my body actually need in order for this symptom to go away?

We all have basic things that we need to provide in order for our bodies to function well. Some of those we know right? We all need to eat. All need to sleep. All need to drink. But what if there's more to it? What if the things we really need in order for our bodies to function properly weren't taught in school? Or even worse, what if they were taught wrong? How are you supposed to start making better choices if you don't know what you don't know?

That's where we come in, walking beside you to fill in those gaps. The beginning, or the basics, are the best place to start. Did you realize that when it comes to your health, sunlight isn't optional?

"Wait, what?!"

Yeah, you read that right. Not. Optional.

Honestly, when it comes to sunlight and health, we don't give it much thought. Yeah, our skin will make Vitamin D when exposed to the sun, but so what? I can always supplement Vitamin D, right?

Ok, but that Vitamin D you're getting from a bottle, it's not the same as what your body makes. It's NEVER as good because it's missing bits. And your body gets WAY more from sunlight than just Vitamin D.

Sun exposure helps set our daily rhythms.

Struggling to sleep at night? How much sun exposure do you get daily? How much time do you spend surrounded by artificial lights, staring into a screen? How many years have you shut yourself away in an office, classroom, or building? How many hours a day are you glued to a screen scrolling, working, escaping?
