If your loved one with dementia seems more confused or anxious, check their vision too.
Vision problems can sometimes make dementia symptoms appear worse. Watch for these signs that may indicate a need for an eye exam:
• Increased confusion in familiar environments
• Trouble recognizing faces or familiar objects
• More frequent bumps, trips, or hesitations while walking
• Squinting, staring, or tilting the head to see better
• Difficulty reading, watching TV, or following visual activities
• Increased agitation, anxiety, or withdrawal
• Sensitivity to light or discomfort in bright environments
