The Village at Sherman Oaks team brought the Halloween spirit for a full-on costume contest! 🎭

"The Joker" took 1st, "Chips & Salsa" came in 2nd, and “Happy Old Man” landed 3rd. Plus, a surprise entry with a live bird arrived on the catwalk! Big thanks to our community partner: Caring Transition of Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valley, for providing the prizes. We hope everyone had a happy Halloween! 🎃

We opened our Halloween festivities with a dance party, orange-and-black outfits, a “creepy” (but delicious!) spread from the dining team, and cream cheese pumpkin muffins that disappeared very fast.

Paul, our dining room manager and fabulous mixologist, shook up handcrafted pumpkin martinis, and Marvin Robinson spun a set that blended “Monster Mash” with Motown. It was easy to sing-along, and even easier to dance to! 🎃🕺🍸

Team TVSO celebrated October's “Country of the Month” with an Oktoberfest-themed buffet featuring traditional German favorites. There was great beer and wine, but the soft pretzels stole the show. "Prost!" to one of our favorite programs, and stay tuned for November's destination! 🥨🍻

The Village at Sherman Oaks recently unveiled “Resident Works Created in Merryl’s Acrylic Painting Class," and our rotating gallery changes every two months!

Merryl, a resident who’s taught a weekly class here for two years, opened with a nudge to newcomers: “There isn’t good or bad; right or wrong. Just give it a try.” Featured artists shared what the class means to them, a Q&A followed, and Mixologist Paul (our dining room manager) capped it with champagne and fall-inspired apple martinis! 🎨🥂🍸

The Village at Sherman Oaks embraced the season with a very pumpkin-inspired buffet!

Picture this: butternut squash soup and cranberry–pumpkin seed salad to start, pumpkin ravioli (with brown butter–sage!), maple-spice roasted chicken, pumpkin & feta risotto, brown-sugar pumpkin–spiced salmon for mains, roasted root veggies and balsamic brussel sprouts on the side, pumpkin spice mousse, and cream-cheese–filled pumpkin muffins to finish. It was the MOST delicious day! 🎃🍽️

In under fifteen minutes, our residents had FIFTY care bags ready to go after forming an assembly line and getting to work! 💛

Water, granola bars, sunscreen, and socks went into each one. It was our quick response to learning that people over 50 are the fastest-growing group experiencing homelessness. The best part? The momentum stuck... TVSO residents are starting a community service club to keep the effort going!
