Happy 🪻💚🪻
Today we celebrate and honor our ancestors and look forward to celebrate our futures!

We honor the quiet strength of the grandmother, the fierce protection of a doula, and the intuitive knowledge that our bodies are sacred. We honor the women who came before us, whose hands held the world together, and whose resilience paved the way for the choices we have today.

At Bini Birth, we believe that respecting the matriarchy means protecting all who mother, lead, and care. Women, trans, non-binary, your wisdom is vital!

In a modern birth system that can feel clinical and dismissive, the role of the doula has never been more vital. We need doulas now more than ever because advocacy is also protection.
Whether it’s navigating medical bias or ensuring enformed consent, a doula makes sure your voice remains the most important in the room.

Today, we celebrate all those who have advocated and protected and all of you today đź’—

Reintroducing ourselves - Meet our one and only founder! Ana Paula Markel đź’—

She has devoted the past 22 years to expecting and new families, becoming a childbirth educator and birth doula in 2002 after her rich and vastly different personal experiences in childbirth.

Now a certified doula and birth doula trainer through and a childbirth educator and trainer through , she has been a mentor to countless doulas.

Our next In-Person Doula Training with Ana Paula March 27th-29th in Los Angeles, California with room still available!

For Ana Paula, spending three day with new doulas is as invigorating to her today as it was when she first began đź’—

The Scars You Can’t Always See.

For too many, childbirth is a landscape of “doing what you’re told” rather than being heard. Negative birth experiences, ranging from dismissed pain to non-consensual interventions, aren’t just “bad days” at the hospital. They are often the result of deep-seated medical biases that ignore the intuition and the autonomy of the birthing person.

When a birthing person’s pain is minimized or their “no” is ignored, the trauma doesn’t stay in the delivery room. It lives in the nervous system. It lives in the body.

For people of color, this is compounded by centuries of systemic neglect that suggests their bodies are “built to endure” without proper care.

The Remedy? Advocacy & education.

We believe that a safe birth is not just about a healthy baby, but a whole and respected parent.

Knowledge is the first line of defense. When you know the physiology of your body and your legal rights in the room, the “power dynamic” shifts back to you.

🪻A doula is the guardian of your birth plan. We provide the emotional and physical scaffolding to ensure that your voice remains the loudest one in the room, especially when the system tries to mute it.

It is not a suggestion; it is a requirement. We teach you how to demand it.

Landscape by Susana Pilar (pictured here) documents the physical and emotional scars left by medical prejudice during her own childbirth in the Netherlands. It is a haunting reminder that women’s bodies, especially those of color, often bear the traces of a system that fails to be outraged on their behalf.

We are outraged. And we are here to help you navigate a different path.

A doula training is so much more than a doula training. We learn, we grow, we challenge ourselves and we bond as humans who want to be part of change.

This group understood the assignment. They were wise, curious, fun and so supportive of one another.
We also had 3 babies who were such important part of our weekend.

Each one teaches one.
Doulas are an important part of the care team of a pregnant person and a huge piece of the solution towards a more inclusive system that will lead towards better and healthier outcomes

Pregnancy is an ocean- a warm current of connection between two worlds. The before and after, the seen and unseen, the abstract and the real. Every pregnant person deserves to be held in love and safety. We shouldn’t rest until they are.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Why Black Doulas Matter

“Black doulas are more than birth workers-they are lifelines in a system where Black mothers face higher risks of complications, trauma, and maternal mortality.
Their care helps Black birthing people feel seen, heard, and protected in spaces that often overlook or dismiss them.
A Black doula offers more than physical support-they bring cultural understanding, advocacy, and love at one of life’s most vulnerable moments. When Black doulas thrive, so do Black families and communities.

Let’s celebrate, hire, and support Black doulas. Their work is changing birth outcomes-and changing lives.
Tag a Black doula you admire. Share this to raise awareness.”
