THIS IS WHAT QUALITY CHILDCARE LOOKS LIKE!

Today is the day we talk about meeting the highest standards in our industry — and for me, that’s the National Association for Family Child Care.

Let’s just take one standard.

In a high-quality early learning environment, children are read to at least 30 minutes a day — 15 minutes in each half of the day.

That doesn’t mean one long sit-down lesson.

It means:
📚 a book during arrival
📚 a story before outside play
📚 a quick read before lunch
📚 a cozy moment in the afternoon

Fifteen minutes doesn’t happen all at once.
It happens one book at a time.

Vocabulary builds.
Comprehension grows.
Attention strengthens.
Connection deepens.

And yes — there are classrooms where books are rarely opened.

But here?
We build literacy one story at a time.

That’s what standards look like in real life.

At DREAM Preschool, we proudly use Teaching Strategies / Creative Curriculum to guide our instruction. This month, our learning theme is Exercise, and we explore it in meaningful, developmentally appropriate ways throughout the day.

Our students talk about exercise, read about it, write about it, and experience it hands-on. Through stories, discussions, movement activities, music, and creative expression, children learn how exercise supports strong bodies, healthy hearts, and positive emotions.

By integrating physical activity across all learning areas, we help broaden our students’ minds while promoting healthy habits, confidence, teamwork, and self-awareness. Learning at DREAM is active, intentional, and fun—because children learn best when their whole body is engaged 💪📚🎶
