Recently found the death records for Johann Peter Dintinger and his wife Margaretha Anna Eva Hochwald. They were the parents of Ludwig Wilhelm Dindinger, who was our immigrant Dindinger ancestor.

With German naming traditions, they were known by their middle name, rather than their first name.

Peter, or Piere in France, died in 1812 in Kirrberg, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France. His wife, Eva, died in 1819. Records indicate she died in Kirrberg, but it was recorded with the church in nearby Eschwiller.

I often think of this quote from the tv show Forever, which makes me think of Family History. I love learning the history of how we came to where we are.

“Why do we feel compelled to trace our roots? Those names in the family tree are just that…names…And yet, the kinship we feel to them is powerful. Does the fact that we’re rooted in history make us feel more secure in our present? But what if our family trees are more like vines, twining aimlessly throughout the ages?”
