Roxbury has been the source of hope and healing for those suffering from substance abuse and mental illness since 1984. Located in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, Roxbury is an inpatient behavioral health facility serving adults and adolescents. Our commitment to exceptional care for each individual patient and his or her family is our top priority. Whether you are looking for treatment for yourself or a loved one, Roxbury is here to help. Physicians are on the medical staff of Roxbury, but, with limited exceptions, are independent practitioners who are not employees or agents of Roxbury. Roxbury Treatment Center is excited to welcome Barbara Bell as our new Director of Nursing! Barbara brings over 20 years of nursing experience, with a strong background in psychiatry across emergency departments, inpatient units, adult and geriatric care and home health. She previously served as Nurse Manager for the Center for Addiction and Pregnancy and Addiction Treatment Services at Bayview in Baltimore.

Barbara shares: “I’ve always been passionate about helping those struggling with mental health and addiction. Since the start of my nursing career, my mission has been to educate both healthcare professionals and the community to view mental health and addiction as disease processes, just like diabetes or heart disease. At Roxbury, I plan to continue this mission and build a team grounded in compassion and understanding.”

Outside of work, Barbara finds joy in her family and her 10 corgis, saying: “They’re the best part of coming home after a long day—helping me de-stress from the ever-changing world we live in.”

The Roxbury Treatment Center team is excited to welcome Casondra “Casey” Schmalfeldt as our new Chief Financial Officer! Relocating from Michigan, Casey brings not only her financial expertise but also a deep passion for community service. She actively volunteers to help provide meals for those in need and believes in extending grace and forgiveness, recognizing that we can never truly know the challenges others face.

For Casey, balancing the balance sheet is more than numbers on a page, it’s about fostering a positive attitude and human understanding. She values collaboration and embraces a team approach focused on serving our residents and the community with vision and purpose. Please join us in giving Casey a warm welcome to Roxbury!

Roxbury is excited to introduce our newest team member, Youhans McFarlane! Youhans brings over two decades of experience as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, helping diverse populations enhance their quality of life through innovative recreation programs. With expertise in adaptive sports and community reintegration, Youhans develops personalized treatment plans that promote independence, confidence and overall well-being.

Passionate about holistic health, Youhans has successfully implemented evidence-based interventions across various clinical settings. Outside of work, Youhans advocates for accessible community recreation, mentors emerging professionals and enjoys spending quality time with family.

We’re thrilled to have Youhans on our team and grateful for the positive impact he makes on our patients every day!
