Practicing the law of attraction has been one of the pillars of my spirituality since I was a teenager. The idea that I could have a collaborative relationship relationship with God as I create my own reality was extremely empowering. Yet it brought me face to face with doubts in my subconscious that were stopping me from manifesting the life I wanted. Was I worthy of the life of my dreams ? How was I going to get form the life I had created into the life I was manifesting. (Hint the how is not our job.) Did I trust my Higher Power to bring me opportunities that were in line with what I was manifesting. My conscious mind was saying bring it on. The key was getting the subconscious and the conscious mind to work together in harmony. I speak about this a lot on my show Scan My Brain about the power of trauma. This is a strategy I use with my patients. Whenever you have a painful or disruptive memory or feeling, write out the answers to the following questions:

When was the last time you struggled, had the painful or disruptive memory or feeling, or felt suffering? Write down the details.
What were you feeling at the time? Describe the predominant feeling.
When was the first time you had that feeling? In your mind, imagine yourself on a train going backward through time. Go back to the time when you first had the feeling. Write down the incident or incidents in detail.
Can you go back even further to a time when you had that original feeling? Write down the details of the original incident.
If you have a clear idea of the origins of the feelings, can you disconnect them by reprocessing them through an adult or parent mindset, or reframe them in light of new information? Consciously disconnect the emotional bridge to the past with the idea that what happened in the past belongs in the past, and what happens now is what matters.
