Hot flashes or night sweats, which one throws off your rhythm the most?
Both of these symptoms come from the same root cause: changes in your body's thermoregulation as estrogen levels shift. When estrogen drops or fluctuates, the part of your brain that manages temperature (the hypothalamus) becomes more sensitive. Small changes in your environment, like a warm room, stress, or even a spicy meal, can suddenly trigger a heat surge or a middle-of-the-night temperature spike.
Hot flashes often show up as a sudden wave of heat rising through your chest, neck, and face. Night sweats are similar but happen while you sleep, leaving you drenched, uncomfortable, and wide awake at 2 or 3 AM. Both can impact your mood, energy levels, and the quality of your day.
The important thing? Your experience is real, and you are not imagining it. These symptoms are common, but they are also manageable with the right support, lifestyle adjustments, and guidance.
