When taken correctly, medications improve our lives in a variety of ways. April 1–7 is Medication Safety Week and a good time to:

• Make a list of any medications you’re on, so you know when and how to take them.
• Be aware of how your medications interact with food or other medications.
• Read labels to ensure you are taking medications as prescribed and know of the benefits and potential side effects.
• Properly store medications in a cool, dry location.
• Safely dispose of expired medications.

And be sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about any medications you’re taking.

Balanced nutrition is always important but especially during National Nutrition Month. Embrace healthy eating habits now that will last all year long.

• Include two servings of proteins each day to maintain strength and muscle mass.
• Add foods rich in calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin B12 for healthy bones.
• Drink plenty of fluids to promote organ function and prevent dehydration.
• Support digestion and manage cholesterol with fiber-rich whole grains and vegetables.

Cheers to eating well and feeling great!

Since February is Berry Fresh Month, we thought it was a berry good time to highlight some of these tasty fruits and offer tips for incorporating them into your daily diet.

Blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries are rich in nutrients, antioxidants, and fiber. These superfruits help:

• Enhance cognitive function and lower the risk of dementia
• Promote heart health
• Aid in digestion
• Reduce age-related inflammation

Adding berries to your daily diet is easy and delicious. Consider having berries as a snack or putting them in salads, cereal, yogurt, or oatmeal.
