Last week, I had the pleasure of attending, and participating as a panelist in a program on arts integration in mental health treatment, at the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) convention. As a first-time attendee, it was truly inspiring to connect with so many dedicated professionals committed to learning, growing, and advancing a wide range of mental health interventions.
The highlight of the conference was collaborating with an amazing group of like-minded colleagues who share a passion for using the arts—dance, painting, crocheting, virtual reality—as powerful vehicles for healing and wellness. I feel honored to have been part of such an important panel alongside these inspiring professionals.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jenny Seham for bringing us together and for all of the foundational work you do to promote the integration of arts and mental health. Thank you as well to Dr. Gifty Ampadu and Dr. Emma Kaywin for your inspiring research and contributions, and to Nancy Colorado for keeping us organized and grounded as our panel moderator.
I am beyond grateful for this experience and deeply motivated to continue spreading awareness about the impact, benefits, and essential role of the arts in our lives.
