"My Botox isn't lasting as long as it used to." I hear this all the time β and most of the time, the answer isn't what people expect. π
First, let's be clear: Botox is not supposed to keep you fully frozen from the day you get it until the day it wears off. It has a curve β it builds to full effect around week 2, holds through weeks 6β10, then gradually fades. That's not failure. That's how it works.
That said, some factors do shorten duration: high-intensity exercise, a fast metabolism, strong muscles, sun exposure, and chronic stress can all play a role.
And then there's dosing β one of the most underappreciated reasons results disappoint. Dose is duration. Dose is outcome. Think of it like Tylenol: you can take less than the recommended amount, but it might not last as long or give you the same relief. Botox works the same way. Trying to stretch product across too many areas means nothing gets fully treated β and results suffer.
Sometimes it's also perception. After a few treatments, smooth skin becomes your new normal, and any returning movement feels more dramatic than it is.
True resistance is rare, but it happens. A washout period or switching to Jeuveau can help if that's the case.
The bottom line: if you're due for a rebook, now is the time. Retreating around month 3 gives the most consistent, cumulative result.
