It's Thursday and that means we have a weekly update on who is showing up in force to represent their community in responding to our Health Needs Assessment Survey!

This week, Show Low maintained the lead once again!

Why do these results matter? Your survey results are making a difference in the health of your communities!

Every three years, our Navajo County Health District surveys our communities in order to identify health issues and guide future goals in programs in our area.
Your input is crucial in guiding our Health Department's future focus, and your representation of local health needs directly serves and impacts your community!

*Note: some communities were combined based on geographical proximity to the nearest school district. Examples: Holbrook's total includes responses from Sun Valley and Woodruff. Winslow's total includes responses from Dilkon. Heber-Overgaard's total includes responses from Clay Springs, etc...
The survey closes out on April 30th.

This week's rankings:
🥇 City of Show Low
🥈 Town of Snowflake Town of TaylorTown of Taylor
🥉City of Winslow
Take a few minutes to represent your community and let your voice make a difference! Share this post with your neighbors to put your community in the lead!

Each year, Summit Healthcare recognizes Child Abuse Prevention Month with a Pinwheel Garden honoring the children affected by abuse in Navajo and Apache counties.

Unfortunately, in 2025, there were 801 reported cases of child abuse in our two counties, with three resulting in the loss of a young life. Each pinwheel is a reminder that prevention matters and every child deserves to be safe.

This April, we invite White Mountain businesses to help promote awareness by displaying a free Child Abuse Prevention yard sign in front of their business as a visible show of support for the children in our communities.

Today we had the honor of hosting Congressman David Schweikert for a focused conversation on the challenges and opportunities facing rural healthcare, particularly Summit Healthcare. As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, it is a privilege to speak with legislative leaders who can advocate at the federal and state levels and help ensure the voices of rural communities are heard.

The meeting was a valuable opportunity to highlight the unique challenges of Summit, being independent and rural, and the essential role Summit plays in strengthening the health and well-being of the communities we have the privilege to serve. Congressman Schweikert toured our facility and saw Summit’s state-of-the art technology firsthand and most importantly, the outstanding work of staff and the compassionate care they provide every day.

We are grateful for the time and undivided attention Congressman Schweikert allotted us to advocate for Summit Healthcare.

Preventing injuries and promoting safety early in life is one way Summit Healthcare cares for our community beyond clinical care. By focusing on education and prevention, we help keep children safe, healthy, and out of the emergency room.

Staff from Summit’s Emergency Department partner with the county and local agencies to participate in Safety Village and Safety Town events at local schools. Through these programs, children learn important personal safety skills, including traffic safety, helmet use, OHV safety, poison awareness, va**ng risks, and more. This proactive approach helps build safer habits and stronger communities from an early age.
