Thinking about becoming a licensed massage therapist Here’s the quick version.
The MBLEx, or Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination, is the national exam required for massage therapy licensure in most states. It’s administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards and tests entry level knowledge to ensure safe, professional practice.
The exam is 100 multiple choice questions, taken on a computer in 110 minutes. It covers anatomy, kinesiology, pathology, client assessment, massage application, and ethics. Scores are scaled, with a passing score of 630. You must complete an approved massage therapy education program to be eligible.
Bottom line: if massage therapy is your goal, the MBLEx is a key step on the path to licensure.
