The fall meeting of the Radiological Society of Louisiana was held here in Shreveport at Southern Trace Country Club this past weekend! We had a great turnout from our department and excellent presentations from attending, Dr. Sergio Alvarado, and R1, Dr. Anish Gupta! 👏👏👏

It's International Day of Radiology! Did you know that November 8, 1895 was the day that Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered the existence of x-rays? 🩻🩻 This is why November 8th was chosen to build "greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care, and improving understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiological technologists play in the healthcare continuum."

Our amazing radiology residents spent the day connecting with the community at the **Communities Crushing Cancer** event at the cancer center! 🎗️🩻

They hosted an educational booth filled with brochures and information about **radiological cancer screenings**—including mammography and low-dose CT for lung cancer, lead by our wonderful R3, Dr. Klapper.

It was a great opportunity to share how imaging plays a key role in **early diagnosis and saving lives**. We’re so proud of our residents for turning knowledge into impact and helping our community stay informed and empowered! 💪✨

Spooky season meets celebration in the reading room! 🎃👻

Our radiology residents took a break from films and findings to throw a **Halloween-themed birthday party** for R3, Dr. Champagne. Between festive treats, pumpkin décor, and plenty of laughter, the reading room was glowing with more than just monitors! 🎂🩻

We love seeing our residents support each other and bring a little fun into the workflow—proof that teamwork (and cake) make everything better. 🎉🕸️

PGY6 IR resident, Joseph Eskew (holding the Neuroguard sign), was a part of this exciting new procedure with the vascular surgery team!

A major step forward in stroke prevention and surgical innovation at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport.

Dr. Chiranjiv Virk and the team shown here successfully performed the first Neuroguard IEP case in Northwest Louisiana, an advanced procedure that improves safety and reduces stroke risk for patients with complex carotid artery disease.

This is a great example of LSUHS residents and fellows being exposed to cutting-edge procedures. Congratulations to the team who made this possible🩺💪
