Halloween and the holidays can be a lot—especially for higher-needs or neurodivergent kids (and their moms 💛).
Here are 3 gentle reminders for this season:
1️⃣ Reduce the sensory load.
Skip the costume, shorten events, or build in breaks—you know your child best.
2️⃣ Practice simple social scripts.
Even highly verbal kids can need extra support with pragmatics (“Thanks for the candy!” is plenty).
3️⃣ Show yourself kindness.
You’re likely running on high alert anticipating your child’s needs. Name that truth and build in moments to come back to yourself—hand lotion, deep breaths, a short walk alone.
This season doesn’t need to be perfect—it just needs to be manageable and kind.
💛 If this feels like new territory and you’d like extra support, I help moms build calm, connected routines that actually work for their neurodivergent families - and themselves!
