Last week, we were proud to host an on-site blood drive with the American Red Cross. It was a wonderful success! ❤️

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, including many of our own Sidney Health Center employees, 38 successful donations were collected, helping provide 96 life-saving blood products for those in need. Every donation truly makes a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to give. Your compassion is making an impact in our community and beyond.

🎉 Celebrating the Extended Care Resident of the Year 🎉

Sidney Health Center Extended Care is excited to announce that Patti Schwenke was named the 2025 Resident of the Year! 💙

Patti was recently honored during a special celebration surrounded by family, friends, fellow residents, and staff. Since joining the Extended Care community in November 2024, she has made a meaningful impact through her kindness, compassion, and welcoming spirit. Staff describe Patti as someone who makes everyone feel comfortable and included, always ready to lend a helping hand and brighten someone’s day.

Originally from Savage, Patti has deep roots in eastern Montana. She spent many years working as a cook in several Sidney restaurants and later drove the Richland Roundup Senior Citizen Bus for 15 years—a role she truly loved. Family is at the heart of everything she does. She is a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoys traditions like large family gatherings and making dozens of homemade ravioli each Christmas using a cherished family recipe.

Patti also shares her creativity through beautiful beadwork, often gifting her handmade pieces to loved ones.

Her positive attitude and genuine care for others help make Extended Care a warmer, more welcoming place for residents and staff alike. We are proud to recognize her for the difference she makes every day.

Next up for National Nutrition Month is Je**ed Chicken with Fire-Roasted Fresh Pineapple. "Je**ed" describes using a technique that imparts a spicy, smoked flavor that's uniquely Caribbean. Marinated with a salt-free sauce or rub of spices, herbs, chili peppers and lime juice, and grilled over hot coals, je**ed chicken makes a great backyard or tailgate entrée, especially when complemented with the flavor of grilled fresh pineapple. Grilling caramelizes the sugars in pineapple, intensifying its natural sweetness.

This isn’t the most colorful food photo I’ve ever taken but it sure is delicious! On today’s menu we have pasta bar. Like most processed carbohydrates pasta is one of those foods that can really support your health or hinder it. Carbohydrates are FUEL. If you are highly active like a high school athlete you need to load up on them, if you sit at a desk most of the day (like me) it is best to limit them or at least not make them the centerpiece of every meal. In this case instead of filling a whole plate with pasta keep it to no more than 1/3 of the plate and try filling up the plate with veggies and protein. I cannot have gluten so I brought cold rice macaroni. Fun fact: leftover rice and pasta digest more slowly than fresh rice and pasta due to a change in their chemical structure once cooled.

Sidney Health Center is proud to support the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing hands-on clinical learning opportunities in our community.

This month, we’re excited to welcome Madelyn Naugle, PA-S, a physician assistant student from Rocky Mountain College in Billings. Madelyn is currently completing her clinical rotation in the OB/GYN Clinic with Dr. Lisa Ross.

Originally from Missoula, Madelyn is expected to graduate later this summer. During her time at Sidney Health Center, she has also had the opportunity to observe in several other clinics, helping broaden her rural healthcare clinical experience.

Madelyn shared, “I’m incredibly grateful to Sidney Health Center for the warm welcome during my rotation. Training in a rural hospital has been such a meaningful experience—the patients are so kind, and I’ve had many opportunities for hands-on learning with providers from across departments who are always willing to jump in and share their insight. A huge thank you to Dr. Ross, a compassionate physician who cares deeply about her patients; I feel very lucky to have her as a mentor as I grow into a future provider.”

Training future providers is an important part of strengthening healthcare in rural communities, and we’re grateful to partner with medical education programs to make these experiences possible.
