Friends, our “Cozy and Warm Project” is in full swing. We are in need of gloves and are completely out. If you have some extras laying around you’d like to donate we’d love to have them.

This project is the no-judgment zone. We put a bag with gloves, socks (if available), a hat, and scarf tied to the front of our railings each night and those who would need it, can grab them.

Thank you to everyone who had donated so far!

** We are asking that you only take what you need. We have noticed that one particular car has pulled up on multiple occasions, grabbed all the bags and left. Please only take what you need so that others can partake in this kindness, as well!

What we do wouldn’t be possible without a community that believes healthcare should be accessible to all.

Every dollar, volunteer hour, and shared post helps us move closer to our mission of providing quality care with compassion and respect.
Thank you for helping us change lives — one patient at a time.

Things are tough right now, and I get it. ❤️
I sat in on a meeting yesterday and gathered a list of organizations offering help during the Christmas season and beyond. This is just what I know of so far, but I wanted to share in case it helps even one person.

These activities and events are run by volunteers and fueled by donations from people who truly want to help others. Be kind, be patient, and thank them along the way. It means more than you know.

I’m also going to work harder in 2026 to share community resources throughout the year on the Compassionate Cares page. (And you may have to nudge me when I get busy! 😅)

Community Events & Resources

👵 Shelby County Senior Center

• 12/12: Free dance open to the public, ages 50+
• 12/23: Blood Drive, 10 AM–4 PM
• 3/18: Wilson Health mobile mammogram unit — early reminder to get your mammogram!
(As a breast cancer survivor, I cannot stress this enough. 💗)
We are also working on a plan for Wilson Health to provide mammograms for CCSC patients in the future.

🎖️ Shelby County Veterans Services

• The Veterans Food Pantry is fully stocked. If any veteran needs assistance, please reach out.

(From what I understand, these are typically free.)

🎡 Salvation Army

🛒 Goodwill Industries

• Offers a variety of programs and services — worth checking out if you need assistance.

✨ A Cozy Compassionate Care Project

At Compassionate Care, we’re working on a simple, warm project:
Comfort Packs for people who are in need, tied to the railing out front.

These include:
• Soft, cozy socks
• Hats
• Gloves
• Scarfs
Just a tiny reminder that someone sees them and cares.
It’s our way of adding a little warmth to someone’s winter. We are in need of gloves if anyone has any to donate.

This is what I have gathered so far. If anyone knows of more community events or resources, please feel free to add them in the comments. We need all the help we can get, and sharing information matters.

Please remember:
I’m simply relaying information to be helpful.
So kindly do not say, “Traci said I could…” - I didn’t 😉

At Compassionate Care of Shelby County, we provide free medical, dental, and mental health therapy. But if you need something outside of what we offer, please call us. We have an extensive resource list and will try our best to connect you where you need to go.

Our community is full of kind, generous people who truly care about their neighbors. 🤍
Let’s keep showing up for each other.linf ont

Please remember that the CCSC parking lot is not a public parking lot. We rely on these spaces for our staff, volunteers, and patients, and unauthorized parking creates challenges for those seeking care.

Thank you for respecting our space.

Our Cozy and Warm Project is up and running full steam ahead. We are in need of gloves. We are good with the scarves, hats, socks but gloves - we are almost out! If you have any laying around and would like to donate, we’d love to it!

Serving cozy vibes today 🧤

I have a ton of very heavy things that need moved around at the clinic- either to the trash or downstairs…

If you know of multiple men that are willing to volunteer their muscles to us, we would appreciate it! It probably wouldn’t take but a total of 30 min (if that). ❤️

❄️ Winter Heart Safety Alert from CCSC ❄️

Shoveling snow may seem like just another winter chore, but for many people, it can significantly increase the risk of a heart attack. Cold air, heavy lifting, and sudden exertion put unexpected stress on the heart — especially for adults over 45 or anyone with high blood pressure, diabetes, or a history of heart disease.

At Compassionate Care of Shelby County, your health and safety matter. ❤️

🚨 Warning Signs to Stop Shoveling Immediately

If you feel any of these symptoms, stop right away and call 911:
• Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
• Shortness of breath
• Sudden nausea or dizziness
• Pain spreading to your arm, jaw, back, or neck

❤️ CCSC Winter Safety Tips

• Take breaks often
• Push snow instead of lifting when possible
• Shovel small amounts at a time
• Warm up indoors before heading out
• Dress in layers and stay hydrated
• Know your limits — ask for help when needed

Your heart is worth protecting.
Stay safe, Shelby County. We’re here for you.
